The SEC Championship will feature a National Championship Game rematch between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs and sparks will surely fly.
The Alabama Crimson Tide have been head and shoulders above the rest of college football in 2018. Even in the matchups where people have thought they might be tested, they’ve still been dominant. On Saturday, however, they’re going up against a highly talented Georgia Bulldogs team in the SEC Championship Game and Kirby Smart’s team is no doubt set on revenge from last year.
Fans, of course, remember the National Championship Game from last season. Georgia had the game in hand in the first half and simply needed to hang on to their lead. Nick Saban then broke out Tua Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide staged a historic comeback to win in overtime. There’s no question that the Bulldogs still have that fresh in their minds.
Though they were a letdown in the loss to LSU, Georgia has proven to be one of the most talented teams in the country. Jake Fromm has developed into a stud and he has a multitude of weapons around him from Riley Ridley to D’Andre Swift. This team has the firepower to keep up with Tua and the Tide. And, though the defense has been porous, they’ll no doubt be fired up to play for Mel Tucker as he’s set to depart for Colorado, and the likes of Deandre Baker is capable of making a big play.
Of course, making a big play against this Alabama team is easier said than done. Tagovailoa has been a superstar as the starting quarterback for Saban’s team and the weaponry around him is lethal. Henry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy are big plays waiting to happen, and so too are Damien Harris and Irv Smith Jr.
And the defense for Alabama is no slouch as they’re monsters up front. They have inexperience that hasn’t been tested in the secondary, which could come into play in this game. However, it’s hard to test them with what the front seven is capable of doing up front. If they can again control the trenches, they will continue to have immense success.

There’s no doubt that Alabama is the best college football team in the country. That can still be true with them suffering a loss in the right matchup, however. I believe that, with the College Football Playoff berth on the line and looking for revenge from last season, Georgia will have the gameplan to attack the Tide’s secondary and will be able to keep pace in a big offensive game to win the SEC Championship.
Final Score Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide 31, Georgia Bulldogs 37
