Southampton and Manchester United drew 2-2 in the Premier League on Saturday, Dec. 1. Here are all the highlights from the match.

Manchester United pulled off another comeback on Saturday, this time against Southampton at Saint Mary’s to salvage a 2-2 draw. Whether that will be enough, against a relegation-battling side, to win Jose Mourinho more time at Old Trafford is harder to say.

Southampton started the better of the two sides, and opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Stuart Armstrong, who drilled a powerful shot into the corner after good work from Nathan Redmond and Michael Obafemi.

United didn’t show much of a reaction after conceding, their 3-5-2 not doing much in terms of chance-creating, and the Saints doubled their lead in the 20th minute thanks to a superb free-kick by Cedric Soares.

With speculation already beginning to swirl about Mourinho’s future at the club, United found a lifeline, Marcus Rashford setting up Romelu Lukaku for an easy finish to end is goalscoring duck.

Five minutes later, United were level. Rashford again played a significant part in the goal, collecting the ball in midfield, turning well and then driving past several defenders before cutting the ball back to Ander Herrera, who finished well from close range.

The second half proved less eventful, with United seeing more of the ball as they sought to complete their comeback. That didn’t result in many chances of note, however, despite a few half chances from set pieces.

Southampton looked dangerous on the break, but as has so often been the case for Mark Hughes’ side, most of their good work broke down in the final third. They tested David de Gea with a few long range efforts, but the United keeper was equal to them all.
