New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham made his best case to be the starting quarterback during Sunday’s game against the Bears.
It has been a tough year for New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning when it comes to throwing the ball. For wide receiver Odell Beckham, on the other hand, playing quarterback isn’t nearly as hard as it looks.
In the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears, the Giants ran a little trickery. After tossing the ball to Beckham on a reverse, the talented wide receiver kept his eyes downfield and chucked the ball deep to a wide open Russell Shepard for a 49-yard touchdown.

The trick play gave the Giants a 17-14 lead, and had many fans jokingly suggest that Beckham take over as the staring quarterback. To be fair, though, Beckham has been about as perfect as it could possible get passing the ball this season.

Yeah, it’s only two pass attempts, but that’s still pretty darn impressive.
While having Beckham start at QB is obviously a joke, the reason it has any sort of legitimate steam is because of how poorly Manning has played this season, and for the past few seasons. The numbers aren’t bad for Eli, but in today’s pass-heavy league, everyone’s stats look solid.
The real problem has been offensive consistency with Manning under center, and Beckham has been quite outspoken about that publicly. It’s unlikely anything will change this season, but no one should be surprised to see a new quarterback throwing to Beckham in a Giants uniform next season.
