Burnley and Liverpool are at opposite ends of the Premier League table ahead of their game Wednesday at Turf Moor. Liverpool are second with 36 points, while Burnley are second last with nine points.
Burnley lost 2-0 to Crystal Palace in their last game. The loss was the Clarets fifth in their last six games. Over their last six games, Burnley have scored only three goals. This season, the Clarets have scored 13 goals, with Sam Vokes leading the club with three tallies. Scoring is not the only problem for Burnley, who have conceded 29 goals this season. After allowing only 39 goals last season, the Clarets have allowed the second most goals this season. Burnley finished seventh last season, the Clarets are in serious jeopardy of being relegated this season if they don’t start picking up some points.
Liverpool remained two points behind Manchester City after beating Everton 1-0 on Sunday. The Reds needed a mistake from Jordan Pickford and a 96th-minute goal from Divock Origi to pick up all three points. Jurgen Klopp’s team remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season. Liverpool’s clean sheet against Everton was their third straight game with a clean sheet and ninth of the season. The Reds have allowed only five goals this season, the fewest in the Premier League.
