Fantasy Basketball: NBA Draftkings Lock Plays 12/5
By Shaun Evans
Hey Guys! We’re finally getting back to a NBA DraftKings Slate that has a normal amount of games with 10 tonight. Tuesday was a rough one and the only player to pan out was Aaron Gordon. So lets dive into this deep slate and get back on track!
NBA DraftKings Point Guard
Trae Young vs. Washington Wizards | Point Total: 233
Salary: $6,000
Trae Young hasn’t been himself that past two games but tonight, he has a good match-up versus the Washington Wizards who have been struggling themselves. Young has been in the spotlight for the Atlanta Hawks as he has had to step up. He is averaging 16 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists on the season so far and is averaging 31.6 fantasy points per game. While he is returning NBA DraftKings value so far, he should be able to exceed it tonight. Trae Young usage rate is 27% and will see more opportunities to up that percentage tonight. The Wizards are allowing points guards to average 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists per game. Trae Young is an affordable point guard to save some salary to use at other more promising positions.
NBA DraftKings Shooting Guard
Klay Thompson vs. Cleveland Cavaliers | Point Total: 222.5
Salary: $7,100
How can we resist playing Klay Thompson once again when he has another prime match-up with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thompson usage rate is 28% and it hasn’t taken a hit with the return of Stephen Curry and with Draymond Green still out, it won’t go down any time soon. In his previous five games, he has scored 38, 43.25, 32.75, 36.5, and 42.5 fantasy points. Cleveland is allowing shooting guards to average 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assist per game so far this season. The pace of both teams doesn’t have this one as a high scoring game as the Warriors are averaging 104 possessions per game and the Cavaliers are averaging a league low of 99 possessions. While this game can and may get out of hand, expect Klay Thompson to be apart of it and exceeding his value once again.
NBA DraftKings Small Forward
Giannis Antetokounmpo vs. Detroit Pistons | Point Total: 227.5
Salary: $11,600
Being priced as the highest player on the slate, it’s only right for the Greek Freak who gets to face the Detroit Pistons tonight. While it isn’t the prettiest match-up for him on paper as Detroit shuts down small forwards pretty well, it’s just hard to pass up on him. He has scored 53.5, 74.5, 59.25, 67.25, and 75.75 fantasy points in his previous five games which makes it extremely enticing. The Greek Freak has a usage rate 31% which makes this another positive. Their entire offense runs through him and if this game becomes a close one then he’ll definitely hit value. He is averaging 27 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assist. Milwaukee is also playing at a pace of 107 possessions per game while the Pistons are averaging 105 possessions per game which will most likely hit the high point total of the night.

NBA DraftKings Power Forward
Montrezl Harrell vs. Memphis Grizzlies | Point Total: 212.5
Salary: $6,900
Coming in tonight, the Clippers and Grizzlies has a low point total but Montrezl Harrell is in a nice spot. Harrell is averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assist on the season and has been have a nice past few games. In the last five he has scored 37.5, 35.5, 35, 42.5, and 19.75 fantasy points and has been playing around 26 minutes per game. He also has a usage rate of 21% so far this season and is top five in usage on the Clippers. While the Clippers do have average 107 possessions per game but the downside is that the Memphis Grizzlies only average 100 possessions per game. While the slow pace may hurt the two teams in making this a complete shootout, expect Harrell to be able to be the positive of this game.
NBA DraftKings Center
Tristan Thompson vs. Golden State Warriors | Point Total 222.5
Salary: $7,300
Sticking with one of the highest scoring game and with a man who is having a career year, Tristan Thompson. We used him in his previous match-up against the Brooklyn Nets where he scored 44 fantasy points. He has been doing that on a nightly basis since taking over the starting role with Kevin Loves injury. Thompson is averaging a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds with minutes that aren’t going anywhere. His usage has also skyrocketed since the Cavaliers have no other pieces to take control. The Warriors are allowing centers 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 assist which is a column that means nothing to Thompson or majority of the centers in the league. While the pace is good for the Warriors, Cavaliers should see themselves fighting to stay in the game, making Tristan another lock play.
