After playing on Saturday, the Premier League has a quick turnaround with games on Wednesday. Last place Fulham host Leicester at Craven Cottage, looking to pick up a valuable three points to move out of the relegation zone. Leicester are in the middle of the table with 21 points in their first 14 games.
The last time that Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri was in the Premier League, he was fired by Leicester, the season after guiding them to the Premier League championship. Ranieri faces his former team, looking to advance his current team out of a relegation battle. Fulham’s return to the top flight has not been pretty. The Cottagers have lost six of seven games, only winning in Ranieri’s debut with the club. Over the weekend, Fulham were soundly beaten 2-0 by Chelsea. The biggest problem for Fulham this season has been their inability to keep the ball out of their own net. The Cottagers have allowed 35 goals and will need to be significantly better if they want to avoid the drop. Up front, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andre Schurrle have both had strong seasons, combining for 12 of the club’s 14 goals.
Leicester look significantly different from when Ranieri managed them. While a handful of players remain, only Jamie Vardy, Wes Morgan, Marc Albrighton, and Kasper Schmeichel have played more than 600 minutes this season. Vardy continues to score goals for the Foxes, leading the team with five goals this season. The English striker has formed a strong partnership with James Maddison, who was signed to replace Riyad Mahrez. Maddison has four goals and two assists this season. Both players scored in Leicester’s 2-0 against Watford on Saturday, as the Foxes are unbeaten in their last five games. Leicester will go for their second straight win on Wednesday, trying to jump into sixth in the table.

Wednesday will be the first meeting between Fulham and Leicester since the 2013-14 League Cup, when the Foxes won 4-3. The last Premier League game between the two clubs was during the 2003-04 season, when the Cottagers won both games by identical 2-0 scores.
