NBA Draftkings Point Guard
Steph Curry vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Salary: $10,000
What could be a potential NBA Finals match-up, we get the Golden State Warriors versus the Milwaukee Bucks so why not lock in Steph Curry in the highest point total of the night? While he is just three games fresh off of his injury, he seems to be ramping up the performance. Since his return, he has scored 39.75, 42.25, and 69.25 fantasy points. He has a usage rate of 30% also so we know he’ll get his chance to exceed his value on any given night. While the Warriors aren’t at full strength, Draymond Green is still out, Curry has to step it up while Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are doing the same.
Curry is averaging 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assist per game and he has chance to improve it tonight but the Bucks are good at defending point guards while allowing them to average 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assist per game. Milwaukee holds one of the faster paces with 107 possessions per game while the Warriors average 104 possessions per game. This game will most likely be a shootout giving Curry the opportunity to go off and exceed value.
Other Options To Consider: Mike Conley (Mem), De’Aaron Fox (Sac), Eric Bledsoe (Mil), Lonzo Ball (LAL – Cheap Option)
NBA Draftkings Shooting Guard
Buddy Hield vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Salary: $6,200
While it’s not another pretty match-up for the Sacramento Kings, they just dominated the High School team Phoenix Suns, and now they get to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. But that makes Buddy Hield very much in play as the Cleveland Cavaliers rank poorly against shooting guards. They allow the shooting guards to average 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assist per game and lack when it comes to pace. The Cavaliers rank dead last in possessions per game, only averaging 99 per game while the Kings play at the second fastest pace with 108 possessions per game. This has a calling for another blowout as the Kings are the favorites giving Hield the upside. Side-note: every time the Kings have been the favorites this season, they’ve blown out their opponents. Hield’s usage rate is at 23% tied with their franchise player De’Aaron Fox.
Hield is averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assist per game and is averaging 31 fantasy points also. He has had solid outings in his previous two games with 30.25 and 30.75. Another upside to Hield besides his price tag, he is averaging 30 minutes on the season besides the game against the Phoenix Suns where he only saw 18 minutes but put up 30.75 fantasy points. The only downside to playing Hield is that if his shot isn’t falling, they may resort to Bogdan Bogdanovic or Justin Jackson but it’s very slim. No matter what the outcome or pace is of the game, Buddy Hield will see his minutes on the court, giving him a nice upside on this 10 game slate. Also with the amount of players, Hield won’t be marked up as chalk and have low ownership which is what we’re looking for when building around Steph Curry.
Other Options To Consider: DeMar DeRozan (SA), Klay Thompson (GSW “Redemption For Me”), Jordan Clarkson (Clev)
NBA Draftkings Small Forward
DeMar DeRozan vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Salary: $8,900
In weird and unusual fashion, the San Antonio Spurs are hosting the Los Angeles Lakers after the Lakers had just hosted the Spurs on Wednesday. DeMar DeRozan is in play once again versus the Lakers after posting 48.25 fantasy points. He dropped 32 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assist and 2 steals in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Lakers do defend against small forwards pretty well, holding them to 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assist. That may not look horrible on paper but compared to other teams on this slate and you may ask why we aren’t playing small forwards versus San Antonio, Sacramento, Phoenix, New Orleans, or Oklahoma City? Well it’s because DeRozan has a usage rate of 31% on the Spurs and while the Spurs aren’t looking good overall, DeRozan does. He is averaging 42 fantasy point per game, with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assist per game.
DeRozan does average around 30 minutes per game but lately his minutes have been scattered all over the place due to the craziness of the Spurs season so far. The Spurs are averaging 102 possessions per game and will most likely have to play catch up with the Lakers who average 107 possessions per game. This game doesn’t have the point total of the Warriors and Bucks but it does have a total of 226 points which gives it the second largest total of the slate. Another upside is that if Aldridge doesn’t show up to play with the rest of the Spurs then we should be in for a nice treat and DeRozan will have to take over and do all of the work for them.
Other Options To Consider: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Mil), Nikola Mirotic (NO), Kyle Kuzma (LAL), Josh Richardson (Mia)
NBA Draftkings Power Forward
Aaron Gordon vs. Indiana Pacers
Salary: $7,100
This is probably the only target that we go for in a low scoring game with Aaron Gordon. The Orlando Magic versus Indiana Pacers has a point total of 206 points which isn’t very encouraging. The Magic and Pacers both average 101 possessions per game showing this won’t be anything but a slow and potential snooze fest but we won’t pass up Aaron Gordon. Gordon is averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assist per game while averaging 34 fantasy points, hitting his expected value. In his last three games, he scored 32, 50.25, and 39 fantasy points. Gordon is also averaging around 30 minutes per game so the ceiling for exceeding his value is also there. He does have a usage rate of 21% while Terrance Ross and Evan Fournier see more usage.
The Pacers are allowing Power Forwards to average a double double with 22 points and 11 rebounds while accompanied by 3 assist. Besides Vucevic, the Magic really have no one else to lean on and that’s where Gordon comes in to pick up the slack. Vucevic has a usage rate of 26% which leads the Magic but that’s only a small increase over Gordon’s 21%. We know he can be very hit or miss but with his current consistent play, there should be no doubt that he can hit and exceed his value against the Indiana Pacers.
If Aaron Gordon starts out hot like he did in his last game, he’ll keep rolling with his hot hand but that’s where we have to worry. It doesn’t always happen that way with Gordon. He either starts out hot or he struggles and gets his points slowly or doesn’t at all. But that has only happened three times in his past 10 games where he hit for only 25 fantasy points or lower.
Other Options To Consider: Jaren Jackson Jr (Mem), Kawhi Leonard (Tor), Blake Griffin (Det *Remember he dropped 38 Points, 13 Rebounds, and 6 Assist Last Time vs. Phi).
NBA Draftkings Center
Tristan Thompson vs. Sacramento Kings
Salary: $7,300
I will not stop playing the hot hand of Tristan Thompson until either Kevin Love comes back or he fails miserably. Thompson gets to host the Sacramento Kings and Willie Cauley-Stein and he should see pure dominance once again. In his previous five games, Thompson has scored 10, 37, 49.75, 44, and 43.75. The Cavaliers have no one else to rely on and have no hope of doing anything well this season and Thompson has been the major beneficiary of it. The big man is still averaging a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds per game while averaging 30 minutes per game. There isn’t any other big man who is even close to threatening Thompson’s minutes or usage but Larry Nance Jr., but even he isn’t a threat.

The Sacramento Kings are allowing Centers to average 23 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 assist per game as a unit. Willie Cauley-Stein has been playing more aggressive and more of a “threat” but with this match-up, I don’t see him or any other big man being able to stop Tristan Thompson. We have already covered the pace of this game with the Kings averaging 108 possessions per game and the Cavaliers being at a sad 99 possessions. Don’t expect this to be the game where Thompson fails us but he may be chalk with the way he has been providing his value but there are other big guys who will be more in play.
The Cavaliers are just like the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, there aren’t too many prime pieces. If Thompson has an off night, we hop he doesn’t, the Cavaliers have no hope in competing with the Sacramento Kings.
Other Options To Consider: LaMarcus Aldridge (SA), Bam Adebayo (Mia *Punt/Chalk), Steven Adams (OKC)
