The Army Knights and Navy Midshipmen add another chapter to their historic college football rivalry on Saturday as they clash in Philadelphia.
The annual battle between the Army Knights and Navy Midshipmen is one of the most special times of year in the college football season. At a neutral site with the student fans all in uniform, it’s truly a sight to behold to see these two universities heading into branches of the armed services duke it out on the football field once per year. We get to see the 2018 installment in the rivalry on Saturday.
There’s never any love lost between Army and Navy as they always have a respectful disdain for one another. That always makes this game quite loud and raucous, which should again be the case at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles, on Saturday.
Army comes into this game clearly looking like the better team in the 2018 season. The Knights have a 9-2 record this season and have competed with some good teams, including losing to Oklahoma by just a single touchdown. They’ll be led in the option by quarterback Kelvin Hopkins Jr. and running back Darnell Woolfolk.
As for Navy, this has largely been a year to forget for the Midshipmen. They’re a meager 3-9 on the season entering this rivalry game and have struggled mightily at times. With a revolving door at quarterback, the option game has sputtered at times. Having said that, with the stakes of a game like this, anything can happen. And the Midshipmen will surely be trying to make that the case.
