NASCAR now has an official esports league, and you can be part of it

An official NASCAR esports league is on the way in 2019, and it’s looking for prospects now.
Pro sports leagues and esports have proven to be a natural fit, even if it’s taken a little while for everyone involved to figure that out. NASCAR is no exception, announcing the eNASCAR Heat Pro League this week.
The result of a partnership between NASCAR, the Race Team Alliance and 704Games, makers of the NASCAR Heat video game series, the eNASCAR Heat Pro League will rev up for a 16-race season in 2019 that runs from the spring through the NASCAR Playoffs. What makes this effort special is that it will feature up to 16 real race teams with two drivers each, so the gamers involved will essentially be doing virtual racing for those real teams, extending the competition on the track each week to the world of esports.
The teams involved are some of the top organizations in the sport as well, including Stewart-Haas Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske and Hendrick Motorsports. Each of them will have one driver participating on PS4 and one on Xbox One. Races will be streamed on both NASCAR.com and Motorsport.com.
“This is an exciting moment in NASCAR history,” Jonathan S. Marshall, Executive Director of the Race Team Alliance, said in a press release. “The race teams are taking this new league very seriously and will be looking for the best competitors in the nation to represent their respective teams. We expect the competition level will be high and we challenge these new esports drivers to become the best of the best.”
Even better, if you’ve got some serious NASCAR Heat 3 skills, you could be one of the participants in the inaugural eNASCAR Heat Pro League season. Head over to the budding esports league’s official website and register for a free account for your chance to qualify.
Just remember that if you do make it, we’ll be wanting you to remember we pointed you in the direction of virtual racing stardom and be reaching out for an interview. Fair?
