Kenyan Drake, Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots

Every game is a must-win scenario for the 6-6 Miami Dolphins, and a home tilt against the 9-3, division-leading New England Patriots only gives Miami more incentive to make a statement. It hasn’t been an easy season for the Dolphins, who’ve had to deal with a bevy of injuries, including a multi-week absence from quarterback Ryan Tannehill and a season-ending injury to breakout offseason acquisition Albert Wilson.

Though inconsistent, Kenyan Drake has largely been a bright spot on the Dolphins offense this season, forming a capable running back partnership with future Hall of Famer Frank Gore. Drake has quietly scored eight total touchdowns (four rushing, four receiving) this season, including three touchdowns (two of them being receiving scores) in his last two games.

While Drake’s usage – he hasn’t touched the ball 15 times in a single game since Week 6 – is questionable, his fantasy upside stems from his ability to find the end zone. The Dolphins are able to use Drake as a rusher and a receiver, with his work in the passing game, sets him apart from Gore, who is likely still the better rusher even at his age.

Drake will face a New England Patriots defense that allows 4.6 yards per carry but is generally solid against the run. They do, however, a slight weakness against pass-catching backs, and Drake has the explosiveness to make them pay if the Dolphins and Tannehill trust him.

After a dud against the Patriots in Week 4 this year, Drake will be out for revenge in Week 14 in a game with higher stakes for his Dolphins.
