Jordan Howard, Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams

Between Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen, the latter running back is the more enticing fantasy football option in the young and gifted Chicago Bears backfield, with his starting percentage in leagues reflecting this desirability. Cohen’s had a few massive games in 2018, including last week’s demolition of the New York Giants defense, since Howard isn’t even averaging 60 yards from scrimmage per game.

That said, Howard remains a relatively high-floor player, and fantasy owners interested in a safe Week 14 option at the running back position could start Howard. Most owners like to shoot for the stars in fantasy matchups, but depending on the opponent and the other players on the roster, a high-floor option may be of interest.

Howard will square off against a Los Angeles Rams defense that handled Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount with relative ease last week, but this is also a unit that allows the second-most yards per carry in the NFL. The Rams defense also excels at defending running backs in the passing game, which could taper the upside of his teammate, Cohen, thus benefiting Howard.

Last week, Howard had 76 yards on 16 carries against the Giants, which was his highest rushing total since October, when he had 81 yards against the New York Jets. During a span of three games, Howard had four rushing touchdowns, including one against the Jets, but he hasn’t scored since Week 9. Hence, the “low ceiling”.
