2018 NFL Power Rankings, Week 15: Cowboys hot, Steelers not
It was an extremely rough Sunday for a few of the league’s first-place club. Meanwhile, a second NFC team wrapped up a division title.
Recap: The Cardinals were coming off a stunning road win at Lambeau Field and would now play host the Detroit Lions. And Arizona’s much-maligned offense, which entered the week dead last in the NFL in total yards and passing yards per game – as well as next-to-last in the league in rushing – failed to score a touchdown. Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen threw for 240 yards but was sacked three times. And his only interception of the game was returned 67 yards for a touchdown by Lions’ cornerback Darius Slay. Meanwhile, Arizona’s disappointing ground attack picked up a mere 61 yards on 21 attempts.
Next Week: It’s a battle of the Birds at Atlanta as the Cardinals (3) and Atlanta Falcons (4) have combined for only seven wins this season. It’s the third time since 2014 that these teams have clashed, with Arizona falling on the road in ’16 (38-19) when last these clubs met. The Cards have dropped nine straight at Atlanta dating back to 1992.
Draft Talk: The Cardinals have been dreadful on offense this season and the club needs more weapons for Rosen. It would also help if general manager Steve Keim got some more offensive line help as the team has allowed 35 sacks this year and has struggled to run the football despite the presence of talented David Johnson.
