Where can you find this week’s episode of Black Lightning online?
It sounds like Black Lightning will be getting into the holiday spirit in the show’s mid-season finale. The CW has declined to release a synopsis for this episode, so looking at what information is out there is even more important.
Which brings up to the gift of the Magi. That’s the title for this week’s episode, but also a Christmas story about appreciating people and relationships rather than material things (yes, that’s a very bare bones version). It will be interesting to see how that translates on Black Lightning, or if it does at all. Last week, Khalil and Jennifer finally seemed to be headed out-of-town at the end of the episode. But they didn’t get away cleanly, and could be pursued by both Tobias and Jefferson. On the plus side, it really looks like Khalil is actually with Jennifer, and not still being somehow controlled or influenced by Tobias.
The promo for the episode really focuses on Jennifer’s disappearance, and the search for her. Is the killer Jefferson mentions just Tobias, or is there someone else hunting Jennifer as well? In some ways, this episode could be the biggest challenge for Jefferson yet, because the problem is both very personal (within his family,) and not something that his powers can really help with. His time living without the Black Lightning persona is evidence that he can talk things out like a non-superpowered person, the situation with Jennifer still put him out of his element. Despite Lynn’s fears, it’s probably safe to assume that Jennifer will make to out of the episode alive, but imagine the conflict in the second half of the season if Tobias killed her. Black Lightning would be on the warpath.
