Club Brugge vs. Atletico Madrid live stream: Watch Champions League online
By Warren Pegg
Club Brugge face Atletico Madrid at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
These two teams have met on five previous occasions, stretching back to the late 1970s, and the home side has won every time. However, it would be one of the shocks of the tournament if Club Brugge were to continue that trend here. They do at least have some recent(ish) pedigree for defeating La Liga clubs, having beaten Valencia at the Jan Breydel Stadium in 2010. Atletico Madrid’s last defeat to Belgian opposition also came here back in 1992. Regardless of the result tonight, though, Croatian coach Ivan Leko’s side are guaranteed a spot in the Europa League knock-out rounds, which they’ll no doubt view as a success after being drawn in a group alongside two European heavyweights.
Atleti warmed up for this game nicely on Saturday with a deserved 3-0 home win over high-flying Alaves, who were up in fourth position going into the match-day. But the Madrid club were rocked in the build-up to that match by the news that Diego Costa will be out for up to three months following an operation on his left foot. They’re already assured of progress into the next stage of the Champions League, although a win here would guarantee them top spot in the group.
