NHL DFS Man Advantage Tuesday December 11th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Tuesday night December 11th! Tonight we have huge 10 game slate to sink out teeth into. Tonight we have some good matchups with high-powered offense against bad teams.
Buffalo hosts the leagues worst team, Los Angeles , on the second night of a back to back. Detroit is also on the second night of a back to back and travels to first place Washington. There’s also the potential for a high scoring affair between two bad teams when Florida visits St. Louis and plenty of NHL DFS options in our player pool.
NHL DFS Goalies:
My number netminder tonight is Braden Holtby ($8,400) taking on the anemic offense of Detroit. Holtby has won 3 of his last 5 starts allowing 14 goals in the 5 games, but he only allowed 4 goals in the 3 wins. On the season Holtby has a .911 SV% to go along with his 2.85 GAA, Holtby also only has 3 really bad starts in his 20 starts.
Two goalies who have winnable matchups on Tuesday are Sergei Bobrovsky ($7,800) and Carter Hutton ($8,100). Neither goalie has been great of late, Bobrovsky has lost 3 of his last 5 starts allowing 19 goals in those 5 games, but 8 did come in one game. For Hutton he has lost 2 straight starts to the likes of Nashville and Tampa. Before the back to back loses Hutton had won 8 straight starts. When it comes to Hutton we need monitor the news because he may not play. Signs look good that he will since he was a full participant in practice Monday and faced shots in-goal.
Pekka Rinne ($8,300) vs Ottawa, Connor Hellebuyck ($8,300) vs Chicago, and Frederik Andersen ($8,000) @ Carolina are all high-priced options in very winnable games. Adin Hill ($7,100) has a road matchup in Boston that I like as my favorite GPP target in net.
NHL DFS Top Individual Plays:
High Tier:
Auston Matthews ($8,300) – Since Matthews returned from injury on 11/28 he has been on a tear. Matthews come in riding a 5 game point streak, which is the amount of games he’s played in since his return, resulting in 6 goals and 4 assists. Matthews linemates have also been playing well with Andreas Johnsson ($5,100) scoring 2 goals and 5 assists in the last 5, and Kasperi Kapanen ($4,600) has 1 goal and 3 assists.
Jack Eichel ($7,500) – Eichel has 4 goals in the Sabres last two games, both loses. Overall on the season Eichel has 36 points in 30 games and is averaging 5.1 FPPG. Eichel is arguably the best player on the Sabres along with Jeff Skinner ($6,600) who has been garnering some early Hart trophy consideration with his 20 goals in just 30 games this season so far.
Brock Boeser ($6,500) – Boeser is starting to heat up after an extremely slow start to the season. Brock had a hat trick in his last game giving him 9 goals on the season in just 19 games to go along with 8 assists. A mini stack with Elias Pettersson ($6,400) is an option if you wanted to pay up for a goalie and can’t afford Matthews. Pettersson has 2 goals and 6 assists in his last 3 games.
Mid Tier:
Seth Jones ($6,100) – Jones is my top Dman on this slate coming with 2 goals and 5 assists in his last 5, as well as averaging over 5 FPPG in his last 5 as well. Jones plays on Columbus’ top D pair along side Ryan Murray ($4,200) and is also the captain of the Blue Jackets first PP unit seeing around 25 minutes of TOI per game.
Shea Weber ($5,700) – Shea Weber and Montreal take on a struggling Minnesota Wild who have lost 5 of their last 6 games. Over their last 6 games Minnesota has allowed 24 goals good for a 4 goal a game average. Since Weber has returned from his lengthy injury leave he has amassed 3 goals and 2 assists.
Craig Smith ($4,900) – Smith and the Preds have a matchup with lowly Ottawa on Tuesday night. In the Preds last 4 games Smith has totaled 2 goals and 2 assists while also averaging 4 FPPG. Smith sees an average of nearly 17 mins of TOI per game while playing on Nashville’s second line and 1st PP unit.
Value Tier:
Brett Connolly ($4,200) – One thing Washington had last season on their march to the cup was scoring depth and they are getting it again this season with player like Connonlly. In Washington’s last 4 games Connolly has 1 goal and 4 assists and 13 fantasy points. Connolly has been moved up to the second line with Evgeny Kuznetsov ($6,800) and Jakub Vrana ($4,600) as well as the Caps 2nd PP unit.
Connor Brown ($3,900) – I am not going to go into the stats for Brown because they aren’t good, Brown is here because he gives you cheap exposure to the Maple Leafs top line of Brown along with John Tavares and Mitch Marner.
David Backes ($3,400) – Backes is playing on the B’s second line with youngsters Danton Heinen ($2,900) and Colby Cave ($3,000) . Over his last 5 Backes has 2 goals and an assists.
NHL DFS Top Line Stacks:
Columbus 1 – Artemi Panarin – Pierre-Luc Dubois – Cam Atkinson: This line could have a field day against a reeling Vancouver.
Florida 1 – Jonathan Huberdeau – Aleksander Barkov – Evgenii Dadonov: St. Louis is bad…this line is good..
Montreal 3 – Artturi Lehkonen – Jesperi Kotkaniemi – Paul Byron : This is an inexpensive line that has been producing fantasy points of late especially Kotkaniemi with assists in the straiht.
Edmonton 1/Colorado 1 : I am thinking of trying to mix these two with one of each unless I can find enough value to get 3 (preferably 2 from Col and 1 from Edm )
