DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks December 13

We have unbalanced slates for DraftKings EuroLeague again tomorrow. The five games are on Thursday, and we have the highest priced player, but also the value from Shved’s injury still looming large. Should we pay up for James?

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

Guards:

The season low on DraftKings points for Mike James is 29.25. That gives him a high floor, but at this price, it is also only 2x value. Fenerbahce has allowed the second fewest fantasy points to guards this season. If you are ever going to fade James, it’s here.

Vasilije Micic has been about as consistent as James this year. The floor is a bit lower and the ceiling is quite a bit lower, but there wont be as much of a difference as the $3,800 price dictates.

Vassilis Spanoulis is another good option near the top. Despite the absence of Shved, I’m still not in any hurry to put any CSKA guards out there in the Battle of Moscow. Beaubois is a riskier pivot off of Spanoulis. Scottie Wilbekin is the safe one.

Matt Janning keeps producing above his price range, and above everyone else in this range. Kostas Sloukas and Deandre Kane are both solid performers at this level, but they haven’t matched Janning in weeks. They are suitable in a balanced lineup build though.

All of the Efes guards struggled last week except for Shane Larkin. I still like Larkin at this price, but I don’t really know how good Larkin will be if the other guards break out of their funk. It might be a better idea to move to Stefan Markovic, who has been solid with Shved out. Charles Jenkins is really the guy to have. Garlon Green didn’t play until Shved’s injury, but he put up 20 DraftKings points last game.

Ali Muhammad and Marko Guduric are solid lower level plays, but they aren’t going to give you much for upside. Neither does Janis Strelnieks, but he is cheaper and more consistent. You know exactly what you are getting from him.

Forwards:

Arturas Gudaitis has been a beast over the last two games. He has 76.5 DraftKings points in that span, but it’s a tough matchup with Fenerbahce. Adrien Moerman racked up 44 DraftKings points last round and has a much better matchup against Olympiacos. Gustavo Ayon also had a huge game last round, and could be in for another against Baskonia. All of the top options are nearly the same. Gudaitis and Shengelia have really tough matchups. Ayon is my favorite pivot, but I can get on board with Jordan Mickey as well.

Poirier and O’bryant had big games last round as well, but like Gudaitis and Shengelia, have terrible matchups. Georgios Printezis and Nikola Milutinov have much better matchups if you are looking in the middle tier here. Zach Leday may be even better. He has been the last two games.

Joffrey Lauvergne continues to play well over in the EuroLeague. He is a lock for 20 DraftKings points every time the matchup is right. This looks to be the place. Still, Adam Hanga is the better play in this tier.

Alec Peters and Nicolo Melli are decent plays if you can’t free up the extra few hundred for Lauvergne or Hanga. Nikola Kalinic looks to be a good option too, but there is risk riding a guy after one good game.

Malcolm Thomas is where I’m going with Anthony Gill out. Honestly, I think I would rather use Kyle Hines against Khimki with Gill out instead of hunting for the Khimki value.

Kostas Papanikolaou has back to back games of 18 DraftKings points. That’s a great value at his price, and Olympiacos actually increased his minutes. This is a good time to jump on Papanikolaou.

Pierre Oriola does quite a bit with his minutes, which makes him a decent value play. The EuroLeague is also different than the NBA in this respect. Value picks often don’t get 3x value. The 3x value comes more from the middle tier. Janis Timma is the wild card of the value picks. He is a very good shooter, but he doesn’t really do anything else. If he goes cold, you’re in trouble.
