Bowl season is finally upon us! With the Army-Navy game last weekend, we didn’t even have to go a whole week without a game! First up is the AutoNation Cure Bowl!

The bowl season kicks off with six games tomorrow. It’s almost like a whole football Saturday! I will not make a pick for the Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl. I wouldn’t be doing you any justice there. The only 1-AA teams I have watched are North Dakota State and Youngstown State. I wouldn’t be making an educated pick.
However, for the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I had a decent regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!
Tulane(-3.5) vs. Louisiana at Orlando, FL(4):
Tulane 6-6, 5-3 (t1st AAC West):
Wins: vs. Nicholls State(42-17), vs. Memphis(40-24), at Tulsa(24-17), at South Florida(41-15), vs. East Carolina(24-18), vs. Navy(29,28)
Losses: vs. Wake Forest(17-23), at UAB(24-31), at Ohio State(6-49), at Cincinnati(21-37), vs. SMU(23-27), at Houston(17-48)
Record vs. bowl teams: 2-5
Tulane pulled off a huge win over Navy to get themselves into a bowl. Their signature win was a thrashing of South Florida in Tampa that started the unraveling of the season for the Bulls.
LSU transfer Justin McMillan helped this offense become more diverse when he took over the QB job. Darnell Mooney and Terren Encalade are dangerous receivers. This isn’t really a passing team though. They would rather run, and they can do that well. Corey Dauphine is the burner. Darius Bradwell is the bruiser. Some combination of the two will be the attack against Louisiana.
Louisiana 7-6, 5-3 (1st Sun Belt West):
Wins: vs. Grambling(49-17), at Texas State(42-27), vs. New Mexico State(66-38), vs. Arkansas State(47-43), vs. Georgia State(36-22), vs. South Alabama(48-38), at Louisiana-Monroe(31-28)
Losses: at Mississippi State(10-56), vs. Coastal Carolina(28-30), at Alabama(14-56), at Appalachian State(17-27), at Troy(16-26), at Appalachian State(19-30)
Record vs. bowl teams: 1-5
Appalachian handled the Cajuns both times to clearly take down the Sun Belt. The signature win is probably the slugfest with Arkansas State.
The player to watch here is RB Trey Ragas. Elijah Mitchell is the burner, but Ragas will carry a lot of the load. Andre Nunez is a capable quarterback, but his receivers are some of the weaker ones in the conference.
Prediction:
Two Loozianuh rivals take their show on the road to Orlando. Maybe they get to go to Disney World. Maybe its nice just to get away for a while. I don’t really see this game being that well attended, but you know we are going to watch because we’re football junkies.
Tulane easily looks like the better team and they have mostly played the better opponents. They have battled some inconsistencies this year, but I’m still not sure why the spread is this low. I see Tulane by double digits here.
Pick: Tulane
