NHL DFS Man Advantage Friday December 14th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday night December 14th! Tonight we get our second straight 8 game slate . Tonight there are a slew of teams on the second night of a back to back (Arizona, Edmonton, Carolina, and Winnipeg) which will mean we should see some back up goalies and some tired teams .
Two of the NHL DFS teams I will target are both on the second night of a back to back I think they are good enough to not let it affect them. Edmonton is home against Philadelphia, while Winnipeg heads stateside to take on the Blackhawks. Another potential high scoring game is one that might get over looked in the Coyotes visiting MSG to tangle with the Rangers.
NHL DFS Goalies:
Tonight’s top netminder is Mikko Koskinen ($8,200) who has already been confirmed as the probable starter for Friday night. Koskinen has been nearly unbeatable of late, with a 5-1-0 record and a 1.66 GAA in his last six starts. The big Finn seems to have unseated Cam Talbot as the #1 in Edmonton with his outstanding play of late.
Once again Marc-Andre Fleury ($7,600) is on my radar as a top goaltender for the night. With there not being a great batch of goalies under $8K, Fleury is the best and only option at this price point. New Jersey has lost 8 of their last 10 games and sit 21st in goals scored on the season with 88 goals scored.
Some people may look at Philipp Grubauer ($7,700) and think he is a great option, I don’t. I like the record, 7-2-2, but I don’t like the save percentage and goals against on the season. Grubauer has a .900 SV% and 3.16 GAA on the season, and a GAA near 4 in his last 5 starts allowing 19 goals over that span. He is not the worst option tonight but he comes with some risk even against a team like the Blues.
Two other viable netminders I am considering for Friday night are Henrik Lundqvist ($8,100) vs Arizona, Braden Holtby($8,300) vs Carolina, and Connor Hellebuyck ($8,000)
NHL DFS Top Individual Players
High Tier:
Alexander Ovechkin (8,200) – First off, it will be difficult to fit Ovi in, but you can make it work. Ovechkin is on a roll, as usual, with 10 goals and 6 assists in the last 10 games and he is averaging an insane 6.6 FPPG in the last 10 as well.
Mark Scheifele ($7,600) – The only player that may be playing better than Scheifele over the last 10 games is Ovechkin. In the Jets last 10 Scheifele has 6 goals and 8 assists and averaging 5.3 FPPG. With this matchup in Chicago I also like the Jets top line as my favorite stack. (Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, and Nikolaj Ehlers)
Leon Draisaitl ($6,600) – Draisaitl plays along side Connor McDavid on the Oilers top line and is having a great season with 37 points in 31 games. The one down side to using Draisaitl is he doesn’t really get the peripheral stats others too, so if he doesn’t get on the score sheet you have a shot for a zero from him.

Mid Tier:
Mark Stone ($5,800) – Stone has emerged as one of Ottawa’s better players this season and with some injuries to the Senators forwards he has had to step up recently. Over the Sens last 10 Stone has 6 goals and 5 assists and averaging 4.6 FPPG.
Torey Krug ($5,700) – Krug has 2 goals and 3 assists in the last 3 games for the Bruins and have a matchup with the Penguins tonight who have not been the most stellar defensively and might have Matt Murray in net who allowed 16 goals in his last 4 games before going out injured
Reilly Smith ($5,100) – Vegas has a good matchup with the Devils on Friday night and the Golden Knights top line is one way I want to go. Smith has been playing great over the last 10 with 2 goals and 8 assists and averaging 3.9 FPPG. Along with Jonathan Marchessault and William Karlsson
Value Tier:
Marcus Johansson ($4,300) – Johansson has been starting to hear up for the Devils lately after starting the season slow. In his last 10 Johansson has 4 goals and 3 assists.
Tyler Bertuzzi ($4,000) – With 4 goals in his last 10 and averaging 2.6 FPPG Bertuzzi has been one of the best players on the Wings right now. The downside to Bertuzzi he plays on the 3rd line, but does see PP time on the Wings 2nd unit.
Marc Staal ($3,100) – Staal has actually been play well for the Rangers offensively of late. In his last 10 he has 2 goals and 2 assists while averaging 2.5 FPPG. With Shattenkirk out there is a chance Staal gets some time on the PP as well
NHL DFS Top Line Stacks:
My top 5 line stacks for the night:
1 – Colorado 1
2 – Pittsburgh 1
3 – Boston 1
4 – Washington 2
5- Chicago 2
