DraftKings CFB picks December 15: Who replaces N’Keal Harry?

For many of us, it’s payday!! It could be on DraftKings as well. The Bowls begin today, and we have five games to choose from on DraftKings. Some of these players have never been offered in DFS before, so this is where being a college football junkie for four months should come in handy.

More from College Football Odds

There look to be a couple of places to attack here. Only Utah State is favored by more than a touchdown, so we could have some close games which keeps everyone in play.

The scoring for NCAA football is much the same as it is for the NFL with one notable exception: the super flex! That means aside from the flex position which is RB/WR, you can add another player from any position! Want four running backs? Go right ahead! Five wide receivers? Sure! Two quarterbacks? Of course! Just stay under the salary cap! There is also late swap, which is essential for contests with start times spanning several hours.

DraftKings Quarterback Picks December 15

Top Tier:

Jordan Love and Mason Fine are the top priced players and they play each other. If I’m using one though, I’m paying up for Love. The North Texas defense isn’t all that good. Utah State’s is.

Middle Tier:

I see the allure of Manny Wilkins, but don’t fall for it. Fresno is one of the better defenses Arizona State has had to deal with in a while. With N’Keal Harry not playing, I expect at least a little regression from Wilkins. Justin McMillan is a safer play against a soft Louisiana defense.

Brent Stockstill has a tough matchup, but he is good enough and smart enough to hit value in this game. Stockstill doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. If you are going for low ownership, you can find it here and still get a pretty good game out of it.

I really like Marcus McMaryion in this tier. The Arizona State defense has struggled a lot of the year, and these Fresno receivers are really good. I don’t think McMaryion outscores Fine or Love, but I would say he does everyone else in this tier.

Bargain Shoppers:

Zac Thomas actually has a sneaky good matchup here. MTSU’s pass defense is solid, but Thomas doesn’t pass that much. He is more of a runner, and the Blue Raiders were weaker against the run. Rushing yards are worth more anyway, so Thomas is going to be racking up points pretty quickly. Shai Werts is a strong play for the same reason, but that Eastern Michigan defense is an underrated unit. I’m not sure how much I like any GSU players.

Tulane is near the bottom of FBS in total defense, a weakness that Andre Nunez can exploit. That said, I would rather use Tyler Wiegers, even against a good Georgia Southern defense. My issue with that game is I think it’s going to be pretty low scoring. Good thing the QB’s are cheap!

STATESBORO, GA – OCTOBER 25: Darrynton Evans #3 of the Appalachian State Mountaineers moves the ball during the second quarter of their game against the Georgia Southern Eagles on October 25, 2018 in Statesboro, Georgia. (Photo by Chris Thelen/Getty Images) /

DraftKings Running Back Picks December 15

Top Tier:

DeAndre Torrey is the highest priced back with good reason. The Utah State defense is good, but Torrey is one of only three backs in this round of bowls that is the clear number one option out of his backfield.

As good as Torrey is, I’m a big fan of Eno Benjamin. Yes, Fresno’s run defense is good. Very good. However, Arizona State will find some way to Benjamin the ball even if Fresno is shutting him down.

Middle Tier:

Darrynton Evans will help Thomas attack this defense, and they are both in a good spot. Evans is in line for probably about 20 touches in what should be one of the higher scoring games of the day. Evans really took off when Jalin Moore went down

Gerold Bright is more of the pass catching back, and has had better games lately because of it. That said, Darwin Thompson usually sees more work, but was keyed on by Boise State and locked down by a snowstorm in Fort Collins. This should be a game where Thompson has room to run again. If I use a Utah State back, it will be Thompson.

Wesley Fields has at least 23 DraftKings points in three straight games. The Eastern Michigan defense is very good, but with the amount of work that Fields stands to see here, he could still end up being worth the price.

Fresno State has the reputation of a run and shoot pass first offense. That isn’t completely the truth. Ronnie Rivers gets plenty of work in this backfield. Arizona State is allowing 163 yards per game on the ground. This is a place that Fresno can exploit, and Rivers looks very cheap for the workload I think he’s going to get.

Bargain Shoppers:

Tulane is allowing 152 yards per game on the ground this year, so I’m not sure why Trey Ragas is this cheap. Elijah Mitchell has been eclipsed as the starter, but he still gets his share of carries. If Louisiana keeps this close, they will run both of them heavily enough to make them both worth while.

I don’t really care for either MTSU running back since this is mostly a passing team, but Terelle West sees enough targets out of the backfield that he is worth a look as a low dollar punt.

Shaq Vann is going pretty much unnoticed on this slate. He shouldn’t be. Gerogia Southern’s defense is pretty good, but Vann is one of the keys to that offense.

DraftKings
PASADENA, CA – SEPTEMBER 15: KeeSean Johnson #3 of the Fresno State Bulldogs makes a catch in front of Darnay Holmes #1 of the UCLA Bruins during the third quarter at Rose Bowl on September 15, 2018 in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Harry How/Getty Images) /

DraftKings Wide Receiver Picks December 15

Top Tier:

How is KeeSean Johnson this cheap? Arizona State’s defense is going to be in trouble here. McMaryion and Johnson have a very nice rapport and the Sun Devils will be powerless to stop it.

I do like Ron’quavion Tarver, but not at just $100 below Johnson. He is a suitable pivot to try and avoid ownership, but given the choice, Johnson is mine.

Middle Tier:

Darnell Mooney has had two huge games over the last three weeks. It took McMillan a while to get his footing, but the Tulane offense is reaping the rewards right now. Terren Encalade is in play as well.

Frank Darby and Kyle Williams haven’t been a huge part of the offense this year with Harry being the target hog and big play threat all in one. Both will be involved against Frenso in a game that is going to be a high scoring one. If pressed, I would take Darby, but both are solid options.

If Bussey sits out, I’m all in on Jalen Guyton. Forget about the ASU receivers. Guyton will be a beast if Bussey is out. Otherwise, I’m probably off of both of them.

Jalen Greene‘s output is pretty close to that or Ron’quavion Tarver. I’ll pocket the $2,300 and use Greene.

Bargain Shoppers:

Corey Sutton is the receiver you want if you are inclined to use an Appalachian State receiver. However, this is a run first offense. The only way Sutton really pays off is if the Mountaineers are forced to play catch up. Blake Banham is the same for Eastern Michigan, though they do pass enough to make him a better option.

Ja’Marcus Bradley is pretty much the receiver for Louisiana. Again, this is not really a team that passes a whole lot. I’m more inclined to throw a dart at Gatlin Casey, who has ten receptions over the last two games.
