High Salary SG

Players costing over $6,667

James Harden (at MEM – $12,000): Needs 49.4 fantasy points. Harden had a huge 78.5 fantasy point effort against the Lakers on Dec. 13. The Grizzlies are a tough matchup, but they’re also on a back-to-back, which means they could have some tired legs. Harden almost always gets his numbers because that’s just Houston’s system. He needs a big game at this salary and I’m not sure it’s in him due to the matchup. Diagnosis: I’ll never say “don’t take Harden.” But there are warning signs against him on Saturday.

DeMar DeRozan (vs CHI – $9,300): Needs 38.3 fantasy points. DeRozan’s numbers have been down in his last two games, but that’s only because the Spurs have been blowing teams out. That’s not really his fault. The Spurs could be in for another blowout on Saturday because the Bulls are not good. That’s the only real issue in this game. If it turns out to be competitive, that’s even better for DeRozan’s value. Diagnosis: A blowout could limit him and makes me wary.

Andrew Wiggins (at PHO – $6,400): Needs 26.3 fantasy points. Wiggins slips in under the salary line, but Booker and LaVine are game-time decisions and I don’t like discussing those guys. LaVine is almost certain to miss Saturday’s game. Booker is a different story. Anyway, Wiggins. He’s been fairly reliable recently, is at a good ceiling and he gets to play the Suns. He should have no issue getting his points in this game. He may not do much of anything else, but he’ll at least get buckets. Diagnosis: Reliable and Suns.
