Fantasy Football Week 15 Last-Minute Waiver Wire Adds
By Bill Pivetz
Here are some last-minute fantasy football waiver wire adds worth using if you were waiting until the final injury reports.
The semifinals of the fantasy football playoffs are underway after the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs. Keenan Allen owners are facing a deficit already after he failed to make a catch. With many of injuries and change in roles, fantasy owners are looking for a one-week boost. Here are some players still available for the Sunday games.
With the Thursday game already in the books, two games on Saturday and one on Monday night, there are just 11 games on the Sunday slate. There are just two 4 PM games, so the slate is a bit lopsided.
Running backs Kerryon Johnson and Rashaad Penny have been ruled out for Sunday. Ito Smith, LeSean McCoy, Matt Breida and Chris Thompson are listed as questionable. Those new injuries along with the existing ones open up a lot of scoring opportunities.
As far as receivers, Odell Beckham, DeSean Jackson, Bruce Ellington, Jordan Reed, Geoff Swaim and many others won’t be available for Sunday. If you’re in a PPR league, those players’ replacements could be nice sleepers to get you six to eight points.
Running Backs
Kenneth Dixon, BAL
The Baltimore Ravens placed Alex Collins on the IR. Javorius Allen hasn’t performed well in recent weeks. Gus Edwards had a nice two-game stretch but has just 14 combined points in his last two games.
With just eight carries, Dixon ran for 59 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 21-yard catch. Edwards has just one touchdown and one catch all season.
Even with Ty Montgomery is also getting some snaps, Dixon is likely the best play of the three. He’s available in 90 percent of ESPN leagues.
Darren Sproles, PHI
Corey Clement was placed on the IR with a knee injury. Wendell Smallwood hasn’t seen any action since Week 10. This leaves Josh Adams as the main ball carries and Sproles as the change-of-pace option.

Sproles has a touchdown in his last two games, one rushing and one receiving. While he doesn’t rack up the rushing yards to be used as a running back, he is worth a flex play in PPR leagues. Nick Foles is under center for the Philadelphia Eagles, giving Sproles and Zach Ertz more value.
Sproles is owned in 7.2 percent of leagues.
Zach Zenner, DET
With Johnson unavailable, Zenner is the best option for some carries. LeGarrette Blount has fallen out of favor and Theo Riddick is more effective in the passing game. Zenner carried the ball 12 times for 54 yards and a touchdown in Week 14.
Zenner and the Detroit Lions have a favorable matchup against the Buffalo Bills. They allow 24.7 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.
He’s owned in just 0.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
Tim Patrick, DEN
While many fantasy football owners targeted DaeSean Hamilton, Patrick led the Denver Broncos in receiving yards and co-led in receptions in Week 14. He was Case Keenum‘s favorite target in that game.
Courtland Sutton was almost invisible last week. Against the Cleveland Browns, that may happen again.
The Broncos do play Saturday night so if you want him, you have to make a quick decision. He’s available in 94 percent of leagues.
Isaiah McKenzie, BUF
Though he is listed as a wide receiver, McKenzie took over the backfield work with McCoy and Chris Ivory hurt. He had four receptions for 47 yards and another four carries for 22 yards and a touchdown.
Should those two be out for Sunday’s game, McKenzie will be the go-to option for the Bills at running back. Some may not want to play McKenzie in their wide receiver spot but at this point in the season, it’s about playing your best players available.
He’s owned in just 0.7 percent of leagues.
Vernon Davis, WSH
Reed is already ruled out and Josh Doctson is listed as questionable. Josh Johnson will be under center for the Washington Redskins, making Davis a must-add for those who need a tight end.
Davis has just six catches for 46 yards in his last two games. He had a season-high 49 snaps last week and could see more this week. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a bottom-half defense against the tight end.
Davis is owned in 18 percent of ESPN leagues, making him my biggest add of the week.
If you made it this far into the season, you likely have a good team. Though, if you’re dealing with an injury or two, these players could help save your championship hopes.
