Main DraftKings NBA Picks December 16: Kawhi could dominate
There are seven games again on Sunday, but they are pretty evenly split for our DraftKings NBA tournaments. This will cover the four evening games starting at 5pm eastern. Don’t worry, there is plenty of star power in these four games, and plenty of value too with the many Denver injuries.

The money line was again solid at 287.5. Kemba Walker single handedly ruined one lineup despite me having LeBron and Saric in that one. The other had the coveted low ownership, but also low production from Jaylen Brown, Tyson Chandler, and the chalky Batum.
The winning lineup was actually up last night to 376.5 DraftKings points. She built around Drummond, KAT, King, and Lonzo and could big time value from Jerami Grant, Mikal Bridges, Saric, and Arcidiacono.
This seems like a day to just pick one or two lineups and go with it. There aren’t a lot of pivots to go with here.

DraftKings NBA Point Guards:
Best Bet:
De’Aaron Fox ($7,600): I have no real interest in John Wall, and with Lowry out, Fox is the top option at the point. He went for 48.5 DraftKings points against the Warriors on Friday. Dallas should have Dennis Smith back, but can he slow Fox down? Fox has at least 48 DraftKings points in two of the last three games.
Honorable Mention:
Jamal Murray ($6,300): Murray put up 39.25 DraftKings points in the first meeting with the Raptors and that was with Gary Harris in for Denver and with Lowry in for Toronto. What can he do with both of them out? This could be a very nice spot for Murray, who looked pretty good after missing a game with a lower leg injury. I do wonder just how much Denver is going to run him because Murray still seems a little slowed by the injury. .
Lonzo Ball ($5,900): Ball messed around and got a triple double (and 60 DraftKings points) last night on top of locking down Kemba Walker. Not a bad night for Ball. This could be another big game for him against John Wall. I don’t think Lonzo hits 60 again, but he might hit 40.
Dark Horses:
Monte Morris ($4,500): Morris has been a force for the Nuggets, and he will likely have a strong role even after everyone is healthy. Morris has at least 30 DraftKings points in three straight games. This is a sure fourth with all of the injuries to the Toronto backcourt as well. Welcome to the wonderful world of value guards!
Delon Wright ($3,200): With Fred VanVleet recently being announced as out, that leaves Wright and, well, Wright available to start at the point for the Raptors. Wright has played very well when given minutes. He has 57 DraftKings points in 59 minutes over the last three games. He’s getting at least 10x value here. We have to use Wright!
My pick: Wright(PG)
DraftKings NBA Shooting Guards:
Best Bets:
Jrue Holiday ($8,400): Holiday put up 38.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Miami. The Heat are starting to get healthy in the backcourt, but I still don’t know if they can slow down Holiday. Boston is the only team that has been able to hold Holiday under 40 DraftKings points in the last seven games. I don’t quite see Miami’s defense on that level.
Bradley Beal ($8,200): The consistency of Beal is something to be revered in DFS circles. Doing this with the presence of John Wall is all the more impressive. The Wizards just brought back Ariza, so I would assume that means they are keeping the band together. Beal has at least 35 DraftKings points in six straight and eight of ten. If you want to roll with a Washington guard, it should be Beal.
Honorable Mention:
Buddy Hield ($6,100): With all of the value guards today, I find it hard to pay up for someone like Hield. However, Hield seems to have found his stroke lately. He has at least 28 DraftKings points in eight straight games. Dallas is a solid defensive team, but I don’t know that they will end this streak.
Bogdan Bogdanovic ($5,700): If I am apprehensive for paying up for Hield tonight, I really see no reason to pay for Bogdan. His minutes still remain constant, but he has had some issues finding his stroke lately. That has allowed the pendulum to swing back to Hield. So long as it’s there, I’m finding the $400 to pay for Hield if I want a Kings guard.
Dark Horses:
Tim Frazier ($4,700): Frazier put up yet another strong performance with 34.25 DraftKings points against the Thunder on Wednesday. The strong play of Frazier has meant that the Pelicans really haven’t missed Elfrid Payton all that much. Frazier has at least 25 DraftKings points in seven of the last nine games, which makes him at least 5x value nearly every time out.
Troy Brown ($3,100): How dark to you like your horses? With Oubre and Rivers traded and Ariza not yet arrived, Brown was recalled from the G League Satoransky could get some run here as well, but Brown can play both the two and three, so he will get run at a very low price. The last time Brown played 20 minutes, he put up 20 DraftKings points. That makes him a pretty good value play.
My pick: Frazier(SG)
DraftKings NBA Small Forwards:
Best Bet:
LeBron James ($10,900): LeBron has averaged 55 DraftKings points per game in 48 career games against the Wizards. Washington is solid defensively on the wing, and they will get better with Ariza, but he likely wont play tonight. The only thing to watch here is whether the Lakers limit LeBron’s minutes. That said, the King had a triple double in less than 30 minutes last night. Even if they do limit his minutes, he might still hit value!
Kawhi Leonard ($9,000): I can give you all of the reasons to play LeBron that you want, but I honestly think Kawhi outscores him for almost $2k less. First off, Leonard has a better matchup. Next, the Raptors are fairly well rested. On top of that, Leonard is option A, B, and C in the Toronto offense tonight. Who else can say that?
Honorable Mention:
Luka Doncic ($7,300): This is another pretty good spot for Doncic, but as it has been for the last month or so, Doncic is going to have problems hitting value with his price at this point. Is he capable of putting up 50? Sure. He did against Atlanta on Wednesday. However, Doncic’s ceiling is usually in the mid 30’s, a range that barely puts him at 5x value. We can do better tonight.
Josh Richardson ($6,200): The Heat are starting to get healthy, but in a game where they are paced up, Richardson could be a big asset. He put up 32.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting with the Pelicans this year. I would expect him in that range or higher again tonight.
Dark Horses:
Danny Green ($4,900): Green has put up some big numbers lately, first with Kawhi out then with Lowry out. With Kyle Lowry sidelined again and with Fred out, this could be another smash spot for Green. He is going to get all of the minutes he can handle and should be a huge part of this offense. Green put up 40.25 DraftKings points against Portland on Friday. We could see totals near that again tonight.
Jeff Green ($4,400): Otto Porter is out and Kelly Oubre is gone, so welcome to Jeff Green chalk. He’s probably going to be worth it too. Green played 45 minutes against Boston on Wednesday. This could be another situation like that. Green put up 44 DraftKings points in that game. 10x value, anyone?
My pick: Leonard(SF), D. Green(G), J. Green(F)
DraftKings NBA Power Forwards:
Best Bets:
Julius Randle ($8,100): With Mirotic doubtful for tonight, this could be another huge game for Randle. His role had been expanded anyway, but Randle has at least 38 DraftKings points in six straight games, even topping 50 in three of those. Just play him. You aren’t going to do much better.
Kyle Kuzma ($8,000): Kuzma will have it a little better not having to deal with Porter here, but he was more a spectator to the LeBron and Lonzo show last night. The only way that changes tonight is if the Lakers decide to limit LeBron. It doesn’t look like that’s happening, so there is no way I’m playing Kuzma over Randle. I’ll come up with the $100 somewhere.
Honorable Mention:
Juancho Hernangomez ($5,100): Juancho still sees a lot of minutes with all of the injuries to the Nuggets right now. He has hit at least 5x value in eight of the last nine games, and has been over 6x value in four of those games. This is not a great spot for him tonight, but the sheer volume of minutes makes him a solid mid range pick.
Mason Plumlee ($4,800)/Trey Lyles ($4,400): Plumlee is still starting, but Lyles sees almost as many minutes off the bench. This could be a huge spot for Denver with Siakam out for the Raptors. They will only have to deal with Anunoby or CJ Miles, neither of whom have the size to deal with Plumlee. This could be a huge night for Denver up front.
Dark Horses:
Nemanja Bjelica ($4,600): Bjelica has done really well when given a lot of minutes over the last couple of years. He should see that kind of run tonight with Bagley out. Dallas is pretty good up front, especially with Dirk back in the fold, but Bjelica should at least hit 6x value here.
James Johnson ($3,700): Johnson still isn’t playing big minutes, but he is putting up good numbers in his limited minutes. With his price in this range, Johnson only needs 22.3 DraftKings points to sit 6x value. If he plays half the game, Johnson should get that without a problem.
My pick: Randle(PF), Lyles(UTIL)
DraftKings NBA Center
Best Bets:
Anthony Davis ($11,600): Davis has 136.75 DraftKings points over the last two games, and those were against the solid Boston and Oklahoma City fronts. He is going to maul Whiteside just like he did in the first meeting. Brow for the win!
Nikola Jokic ($9,900): Jokic has three straight games with more than 53 DraftKings points. Denver is set to tear apart the Toronto front, and Jokic will be right at the heart of it. This is a big spot for the big man. If you can fit him and AD and Kawhi in a lineup, that might be enough!

Honorable Mention:
DeAndre Jordan ($6,800): Sacramento has been abused up front lately too. Jordan isn’t really a big part of the Dallas offense, but he is still one of the better rebounders around and he should get plenty of chances tonight. You could also run this back with Cauley-Stein in a lesser played game stack with Bagley out.
Serge Ibaka ($6,500): Ibaka could be in a great spot as the Raptors will be holding open auditions for Robin to Kawhi’s Batman. Ibaka is more of an offensive threat now than anything, so he could be in a sneaky good spot here, even though I don’t really like his matchup with Jokic.
Dark Horses:
JaVale McGee ($4,700): McGee put up a strong 34 DraftKings points on Charlotte last night, and could do the same against a Wizards team that doesn’t have a true center right now. This looks like a really good spot for McGee. The only issue is I have a lot of guys I want to play up front and McGee may not make the cut.
Thomas Bryant ($3,400): Bryant was solid against the Nets where Markieff Morris was not. This is another good matchup for the Washington bigs, but neither of them have done anything with the opportunities lately. I would go with the value pick of Bryant over Morris if you even want to mess with this.
My pick: Davis(C)
