DraftKings NFL: Week 15 lineup
By Joe Romano
Tight Ends
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks – $6300
There is no way George Kittle matches his near historic stats from a week ago. The second year tight end nearly broke the record for most yards by a tight end, IN A HALF! This week he should see more opportunity again but faces a much tougher test. Seattle ranks as one of the toughest defenses for opposing tight ends. Two weeks ago he had a respectable 70 yards on 6 catches. Look for a slight uptick but be careful because Seattle will be game planning around the big play maker.
Eric Ebron, Indianapolis Colts vs Dallas Cowboys – $5900
Eric Ebron has more touchdowns as a Colt this year than he did his entire career. The former first round pick is being utilized to the max of his skill set. He and Andrew Luck are benefiting from creative play calling, especially in the red zone. A tough Dallas defense awaits but this is the same defense that has struggled against elite tight ends all season. Ebron is a solid play but comes with a bit of risk.
Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers – $5800
It is a shame that the lasting image from last week’s game for Rob Gronkowski will be him stumbling in attempt to make a tackle. It overshadows what may have been his best game of 2018. Gronkowski has over yards and a touchdown. A big game with the Steelers is up next. Pittsburgh struggles against tight ends, ranking in the bottom ten of the league. This should be another week where Gronkowski excels.
Jared Cook, Oakland Raiders @ Cincinnati Bengals – $5600
There may not have been a week where Jared Cook was not a top-five priced tight end. He’s excelling in an expanded role in Oakland. He is coming off a game with seven catches on ten targets and over 100 yards. This is another prime matchup for Cook with a Bengals defense that has allowed the second most touchdowns to tight ends this season. Opportunity and matchup are massively in Cook’s favor.
Austin Hooper, Atlanta Falcons vs Arizona Cardinals – $4200
A big drop from fourth to fifth this week in tight end rankings. Austin Hooper is the fourth or fifth passing option on his own team. Hooper is putting up a solid season but it is rare to see him inside the top five. That becomes even more apparent when you dive into the fact that Arizona is the third toughest defense for opposing tight ends. Hooper also carried an injury designation into the latter half of the week.
Value Tight Ends
C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals vs Oakland Raiders – $3600
There is not a lot of options for value plays at tight end this weekend. C.J. Uzomah may be the best of the bunch thanks to matchup and quarterback. The Bengals play a Raiders defense that has given up an NFL worst 9 touchdowns to tight ends. Uzomah also has a quarterback in Jeff Driskel who prefers a short passing attack. This is a risky play, as Uzomah averages less than five targets per game but this is the type of week where risks need to occur to find value.
Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings vs Miami Dolphins – $3500
I’m expecting a big bounce back week for Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense. The change at offensive coordinator always gives teams a little boost. One of the players that can see an increased role is Kyle Rudolph. The talented tight end has been up-and-down this season. With a likely bump in the run game, Rudolph is set to increase targets on play action. Rudolph also gets a Dolphins offense that just got torched by Rob Gronkowski.
