I did pretty well to open bowl season on Saturday with my against the spread picks. We can make some money on these games. Are you with me?
For the rest of the bowls, you will get my picks against the spread and point wagers just like I did all season long. I had a solid regular season, but I can make it look a whole lot better with a strong bowl season!

UAB(-2.5) vs. Northern Illinois at Boca Raton, FL(2):
UAB 10-3, 7-2 (1st CUSA):
Wins: vs. Savannah State(52-0), vs.vs. Tulane(31-24), vs. Charlotte(28-7), at Louisiana Tech(28-7), at Rice(42-0), vs North Texas(29-21), at UTEP(19-0), vs. UTSA(52-3), vs. Southern Mississippi(26-23), at Middle Tennessee State(27-25)
Losses: at Coastal Carolina(24-47), at Texas A&M(20-41), at Middle Tennessee State(3-27)
The job would seem to be Tyler Johnston’s heading into bowl season since he did what A.J. Erdely couldn’t do the week before: he beat the Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro. This look like a completely different UAB team with Johnston under center. However, it will be Spencer Brown that carries the offense and the defense that carries the team. I do think that Johnston could have a quick hook if he struggles though.
Record vs. bowl teams: 4-2
Northern Illinois 8-5, 7-2(1st MAC):
Wins: vs. Central Michigan(24-16), at Eastern Michigan(26-23), at Ball State(24-16), vs. Ohio(24-21), at BYU(7-6), at Akron(36-26), vs. Toledo(38-15), vs.Buffalo(30-29)
Losses: at Iowa(7-33), vs, Utah(6-17), at Florida State(19-37), vs. Miami(OH)(7-13), at Western Michigan(21-28)
Record vs. bowl teams: 5-3
The Huskies sandwiched a strong MAC season in between a rough preseason and a stumble down the stretch. They did beat a good Buffalo team in the MAC Championship behind the strong play of Marcus Childers and Tre Harbison.
This is also a very tough defense. They only allowed six points to BYU and held six opponents to 20 points or less. The only question is whether the offense can roll against UAB.
Prediction:
NIU played a really bad game against Florida State, but that was a wakeup call as they beat four bowl bound MAC teams. UAB is the story everyone wants to follow. Just two years ago, they didn’t even have a football team. Erdely was one of the guys that stuck through this. So did Brown. This is a big moment for the seniors on this team. I just don’t see UAB letting this one slip away.
Pick: UAB
Stay tuned for the rest of the bowl picks against the spread, and our DFS picks for the NBA, NFL, and even some NHL action! We have something for everyone!
