The fantasy football season is coming to a close with only the championship game remaining in most leagues.

This past weekend seemed like an odd week for fantasy football. We saw several high profile players under perform while a few others had breakout performances. In the end, you likely needed a little bit of luck to advance in your league’s playoffs.

One of the bigger disappointments of the week came at the quarterback spot. Tom Brady and Jared Goff standout has having poor performances.

Their struggles created more frustration based on the fact that they had solid matchups. Goff especially had an favorable matchup against a depleted Philadelphia Eagles secondary. Instead, he failed to score a touchdown and threw two interceptions.

The Los Angeles Rams offense as a whole struggled for the second week in a row. Todd Gurley had trouble finding a rhythm which in turn made things more difficult on Goff. It’s clear that the Rams offense needs Gurley to be effective in order to be really successful.

Some fantasy owners were also sure to be disappointed by Amari Cooper and the Dallas Cowboys. They laid an egg against what is a very underrated Indianapolis Colts defense. However, it  had to be a tough pill to swallow watching Cooper be so ineffective.

The big surprise performance this week came from rookie Kalen Ballage. He had a monster day after replacing the injured Frank Gore. Ballage will be one of the hotter additions when this week’s waiver wire runs.
