Fantasy Football, Week 16: Best lineup with start/sit advice
By Dylan Broady
Here we are! Fantasy Football Championship week! For those who hold their league title games in Week 16 this is the big one!
Before we can begin on such an exciting fantasy football week, let’s dive into how we did from the semi-finals. At quarterback we featured Derek Carr of the Oakland Raiders. We projected him at 300 passing yards and three touchdowns. He actually performed at his average. He threw for 263 passing yards and only one touchdown.
At our running back position we had Joe Mixon of the Cincinnati Bengals. Our projection was 150 rushing yards, 25 receiving yards and two total touchdowns. Mixon actually ran for 129 yards, only one receiving yard, but did have the two total touchdowns. We were pretty close on his projection. Our quarterback underperformed though.
Moving on to wide receiver we featured Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks. We projected him at 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His actual output was a mediocre 45 receiving yards. Doug Baldwin stole the show in this Week 15 matchup. Last but not least at tight end we featured Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots. We said he would have 85 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
His actual output was just 21 total receiving yards. Not a good game for the Patriots offense in Pittsburgh. The Steelers were salty over their Week 15 defeat in Oakland. We will now move on to our Start/Sit section. Last week we started Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers and sat Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.
Roethlisberger threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns which equated to 19 fantasy points. Rodgers threw for 274 yards with zero touchdowns, which equated to 14.5 fantasy points. These points are based upon passing touchdowns counting as six points a piece.
Our running backs were David Johnson of the Arizona Cardinals and Kenyan Drake of the Miami Dolphins. Johnson ran for 33 yards and one touchdown. Drake managed just six rushing yards on the day. So far so good for our Start/Sit of Week 15. We don’t need to mention how many fantasy points these two numbers equated to. Moving onto wide receivers.
We featured Antonio Brown and Mike Evans. Brown caught four balls for 49 receiving yards and one touchdown. Evans caught four balls for 121 yards. Evans outpointed Brown by roughly a point. We will call it a wash. Obviously the Ravens defense doesn’t always show up as expected. We feared a very poor performance from Evans in Week 15. Onto tight ends we shall go.
We told you to start Jared Cook of the Oakland Raiders and sit Jimmy Graham of the Green Bay Packers. Cook caught two balls for 23 receiving yards and Graham caught three for 32 receiving yards. We clearly whiffed on this prediction. Cook has been on fire as of late and had the perfect Week 15 matchup. That concludes our Week 15 recap.
