The Clemson Tigers have become a college football powerhouse and these additions to their 2019 recruiting class on early signing day will keep that up.
Under the watch of Dabo Swinney, the Clemson Tigers are no longer just an ACC contender, but have instead become a perennial national title contender. Part of that is surely the coaching and player development under the head coach, but he’s also done a phenomenal job recruiting throughout his tenure, consistently bringing in big names.
The biggest name that they brought in last year, quarterback Trevor Lawrence, has already taken over the offense and has Clemson in the College Football Playoff vying for another championship. With this team likely to lose several big-name players — particularly on defense — to the NFL Draft, though, the Tigers came into the 2019 recruiting period needing to retool.
As is often the case, they needed to make some early noise in recruiting leading up to the early signing day period. They certainly achieved that already with the signing of two 5-star players in cornerback Andrew Booth and wide receiver Frank Ladson, No. 2 and 4 at their respective positions according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Coming into the early signing day period, though, the big recruit that they were looking to land was 4-star defensive tackle Tyler Davis from Apopka, FL. The 161st-ranked national recruit and 12th best defensive tackle in the class, Davis appears as if he could be part of the future on defense for the Tigers if they could land him, though teams like Florida State and Miami were also vying for him.
Did they land Davis? Who else is part of this class thus far? Let’s take a look at the Clemson football 2019 recruiting class at the early signing day period:
Ranked as the No. 6 class in the country heading into the early signing day period, Clemson appears to have no signs of slowing down their tremendous run of late. Swinney knows how to find guys on the recruiting trail, so there’s good reason to have faith in an already talented class.
