DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks December 19

We have a two round week in the EuroLeague this week. Forwards seem to be the place to spend up today with Gran Canaria and Efes ripe for attacking. Where can we find some value guards? Who is trending up? Let’s dive right in!

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

Guards:

Mike James responded to two lackluster matchups by putting up 94 DraftKings points in those two games. No matter the opponent, James is pretty much at must play status. His 38.3 average DraftKings points per game in unheard of in the EuroLeauge. James can hit you 3x value, even at this massive price. Fade him if you want, but you better guess right at every other position.

Ray McCallum has a great matchup against Zalgiris. They are the worst team in the EuroLeague against guards anyway, and they will be missing Nate Wolters. I like both McCallum and Toney Douglas, but it’s hard to fit McCallum in there if using James. There is also hidden value here with Markel Brown, who has played 51 minutes over the last two games.

The injury to Wolters also opens value for players on his own team. Marius Grigonis has played well lately, and could see a bit heavier workload. Arturas Milaknis remains a favorite value pick with a touch more upside than usual.

With Brown and Milaknis available as value picks, I really don’t see any reason to mess around in the middle tier with the Munich guards. Stefan Jovic is the guy to go with if you want to play around with it, but I would rather stack James with the value guards, or leverage it with the Darussafaka backcourt against Zalgiris.

Forwards:

I could almost get on board with a James fade for Brandon Davies. Almost. Davies has put up some big numbers in good matchups. With Wolters out against Darussafaka, this is about as good as matchups get. If there is enough value to cram Davies in there with James, you could end up with close to 100 DraftKings points right there.

Derrick Williams is the more consistent and practical way to go. He doesn’t have the upside of Davies, but Williams has at least 20 DraftKings points is six straight games, and broke out against Zalgiris last week. Can he build on that here?

After seeing what Williams did to Zalgiris, I’m interested in Michael Eric as well going against the same Zalgiris front today. Jeremy Evans is a strong mid range pick as well.

Johnny O’Bryant seems to have a starting gig locked down, and he is putting up good numbers even when the matchup isn’t great. It is here against Khimki. I may even jump back on the Tarik Black bandwagon here, but O’Bryant looks to be the way to go in this game.

Malcolm Thomas still looks worth using as a value pick despite the poor matchup with Anthony Gill still out. On the other side of this, Angelo Caloiaro and Alex Tyus look like strong mid range options here since they wont have to tangle with Gill in the middle.

If Kavaliauskas is able to play, I like him with Jankunas out. Edgaras Ulanovas is looking like a very good pick as well. With Papapetrou out and Matt Lojeski questionable, Stephane Lasme could be a good value pick here as well.
