The regular season is over but the Maction continues into bowl season. Who doesn’t love a little Wednesday evening college football in mid-December?
The Ohio Bobcats take on the San Diego State Aztecs in the DXL Frisco Bowl from Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX with kickoff at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. 8-4 Ohio comes into this game having won four of their last five games so they’ll be hoping the layoff between the regular season and bowl season won’t curtail the momentum they built in October and November.
Ohio has an explosive offense that averaged 41.2 points per game led by a rushing attack that averaged more than 268 yards per game. A.J. Ouelette leads the team with 1,142 yards and 12 touchdowns on 6.2 yards per carry. But he’s far from the lone ranger that can pick up large chunks of yards on the ground. Fellow running back Maleek Irons had 831 yards and eight touchdowns to give the Bobcats a two-headed monster at the running back position.

What really makes this offense go is junior quarterback Nathan Rourke who has 2,225 yards and 22 touchdowns to seven interceptions and he’s racked up 816 rushing yards and a team-high 13 rushing scores. Papi White is his favorite target after hauling in 58 catches for 897 yards and nine touchdowns.
7-5 San Diego State limps into the Frisco Bowl after losing three straight and four of their last five games to end the year. The Aztecs will rely on a defense that allowed 94.5 yards per game on the ground and 21.8 points per game. This will be strength on strength with the San Diego State run defense matching up nicely against the Ohio run game.

Prediction: Ohio is playing well while San Diego State has been ice cold to close the year. The Bobcats have too much offense and too many different ways to score points against a good Aztecs defense. Ohio wins and covers the spread.
