Since arriving with the Georgia Bulldogs, Kirby Smart has been a recruiting genius, and he looks to continue that at the 2019 early signing day period.

There’s a reason that the Georgia Bulldogs have found themselves either in or in contention to make the College Football Playoff the past two seasons. Since Kirby Smart took over the program, the head coach has brought in one big-name recruit after another and become a powerhouse in regards to the recruiting trail.

Spoiler alert: Smart’s not abandoning that strategy for the 2019 recruiting period. While the Bulldogs enter early signing day with the second-overall ranked recruiting class, behind only Alabama, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, they do have an advantage in one area: 5-star recruits. Georgia has already landed four such players compared to just two for Alabama. For good measure, LSU is the only team with three 5-stars at this point.

The four 5-star players heading to Georgia (or already there as an early enrollee) are top-overall recruit and weakside defensive end Nolan Smith, center Clay Webb, defensive tackle Travon Walker and wide receiver Dominick Blaylock. These three players all rank in the top-35 overall recruits in the country and will be huge for the Bulldogs.

However, Smart can land even more talent during the early signing day period and further bolster this 2019 recruiting class. The two biggest battles for the Bulldogs will be for top-ranked inside linebacker Nakobe Dean and No. 4 cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. The Bulldogs appeared to have a great shot at each, but in the recruiting game, it can always go any way.

Which way did it fall for the Bulldogs, though? Let’s take a look at the Georgia 2019 early signing day class:

Though Georgia may not be in the College Football Playoff, they’re going to be in contention for years to come with Smart recruiting at this level. He’s one of the best in the business in this regard, and it shows year after year with him running the show in Athens.
