After making the College Football Playoff, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish aim to stay atop the sport with their 2019 recruiting class at early signing day.
After years of falling short and not truly being all the way back, Brian Kellyās Notre Dame Fighting Irish undoubtedly accomplished that feat in the 2018 season. They went through a rigorous schedule with an unbeaten record and now have a spot in the College Football Playoff. Even if they donāt win, they will have a chance at winning the title, which is closer than theyāve been in recent years by a wide margin.
Having said that, the Fighting Irish came into early signing day sitting outside of the top 10 in the country in terms of where their class ranked. Whatās more, the Irish had no 5-star recruits to their credit. That last part has not changed. However, they were able to add some more high-quality players on early signing day that will help them tremendously.
The two big names that Notre Dame was able to add on early signing day were offensive tackle Quinn Carroll from Minneapolis and offensive guard Zeke Correll from Cincinnati. Both ranked in the top 120 overall prospects according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and No. 12 and 7 at their respective positions, these are huge gets for Kelly.
When you consider what the Fighting Irish have done in recent years developing offensive linemen, Carroll and Correll already come in with intrigue. And with several other 4-star defensive players on their way to South Bend, this class may not have 5-stars, but plenty of talent.
Letās have a look at the Notre Dame 2019 early signing day class:
Notre Dame may not have a bevy of 5-stars heading to South Bend, but the Fighting Irish are no doubt one of the stronger overall classes in college football. The Irish are going to be a factor as long as Kelly is there, as evidenced by their success in the 2018 season.
