The Ohio State Buckeyes are in an interesting position moving forward with Ryan Day taking over, so how will that affect their 2019 early signing day class?

The Ohio State Buckeyes were once again left out of the College Football Playoff for the second-straight year, despite winning the Big Ten again. There’s no doubt that’s frustrating for this team as they move forward, but it’s not all they have to worry about, nor is it the chief concern looking ahead. Instead, that would be the questions of how things will look as current offensive coordinator Ryan Day takes over the program with Urban Meyer stepping down.

Though there are many things that can be said of Meyer, what’s undeniable is his ability to identify talent and bring them to Columbus to continually make the Buckeyes one of the best teams in college football. There is no doubt that Day has been a key figure in that, but it’s still a change in direction for the program, and change is often frightening.

Having said that, Ohio State entered the early signing day period already having two 5-star recruits locked in and bolstering the 10th-ranked class in the country, though that is a fall from their normal spot. Still, they’ll certainly look to build upon already having wide receiver Garrett Wilson and center Harry Miller joining the program, both of whom rank as the second-best player at their respective positions.

On early signing day, though, the big fish that the Buckeyes would love to land would be strongside defensive end Zach Harrison out of Lewis Center, OH. The fourth-ranked recruit in the country and top player both at his position and in Ohio, Harrison appeared likely to choose the Buckeyes, but stranger things have happened.

So then, what does the Ohio State 2019 early signing day class look like? Let’s have a look:

Though it may be a new era for Ohio State football, it appears as if the foundation is still being laid for a bright future in Columbus with Day at the helm of the program. If nothing else, the talent pool for the Buckeyes should remain rich.
