The Texas Longhorns are finally back, but now it’s about staying back, and here’s what Tom Herman has in store for their 2019 early signing day class.

How many times have we heard that the Texas Longhorns are “back” over the years? Yet, it’s never been true, time and again. However, it appears that they are closer than they have been in some time now that Tom Herman is the head coach. Not only were they in the Big 12 Championship Game this season, but they were in the College Football Playoff mix for a bit, or at least sniffing it.

Thus, it’s all about maintaining that for Herman and the Longhorns moving forward, which makes the recruiting trail all that more important. Entering the 2019 early signing day period, the Longhorns had a top-10 class in the country, landing just shy of 15 four-star recruits, though they had no five-star players to their credit.

Even still, their class includes three top-70 overall players in linebacker De’Gabriel Floyd, wide receiver Jordan Whittington and offensive tackle Tyler Johnson.

In the early signing day period, though, Texas’ biggest target is no doubt running back Noah Cain from the vaunted IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The four-star runner has coming to the Longhorns under consideration, and he would bolster their class in a massive way should he choose to come to Austin. For good measure, another big add would be safety Jalen Catalon, if they can secure his commitment.

With that in mind, let’s look at the 2019 early signing day class for the Texas Longhorns:

Texas has built themselves back to being nationally relevant with Herman helming the program. While the top-tier recruits may not be involved in this class, this is still another step in the right direction for the Longhorns.
