DraftKings NFL: Best lineup for Week 16
By Joe Romano
Only two regular season weeks remain in the NFL season. Find some holiday joy with this all you need to know piece about DraftKings main slate.
It is hard to believe but there are only two weeks left of this 2018 NFL season. Teams are in playoff push mode. We are coming off the lowest scoring week of the entire 2018 season, and things are not looking better for Week 16. Despite the playoff races being tight, there is a chance some of the best fantasy players begin to be phased out as their teams have been eliminated from playoff contention.
We also have two Saturday games, but luckily none on Thursday. This is the deepest pool of players for a main slate all year.
This article will help you sort out all the noise surrounding the top players at each position. It will also give you a few value plays at each spot to make sure you have a well rounded lineup.
Quarterbacks
Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers @ New Orleans Saints – $6700
Despite coming off a big win, Ben Roethlisberger needs a bounce back week to keep the Steelers in the drivers seat for the playoffs. Over the last four weeks Roethlisberger has struggled, ranking as the tenth quarterback in fantasy with seven touchdowns to five interceptions. A tough matchup awaits with New Orleans. The Saints defense is back to it’s 2017 form where it was forcing turnovers and creating havoc. Pittsburgh has struggled on the road and this could be another tough week for the entire group but Roethlisberger in particular.
Deshaun Watson, Houston Texans @ Philadelphia Eagles – $6600
What a season it has been for the Houston Texans. Deshaun Watson is getting healthier by the week and the offense is a big-play threat on every snap because of it. Houston gets an extra day of rest after playing Saturday and get an Eagles team with a short rest after playing Sunday night. Watson is in a great spot here to continue the Texans’ hot streak against this secondary. Philadelphia will be able to get pressure and are playing for their season but Watson should have another solid day.
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs Pittsburgh Steelers – $6500
There should be a saying in the NFL, “always play Drew Brees at home”. This is one of those weeks where Brees looks like a lock for a big outing. Pittsburgh’s defense has been solid but have allowed the eighth most points to quarterbacks over the last four weeks. Inside the dome in New Orleans Brees should light up this undermanned secondary.
Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals – $6400
Over the last four weeks Jared Goff has thrown one touchdown to six interceptions. There is something going on in Los Angeles and Goff is at the top of the list of reasons why. The former number one pick is struggling with ball security, especially in cold weather. Luckily that will not be the case when they travel to Arizona to play the Cardinals. While there is talent on Arizona’s defense, Goff should rebound strong. The Cardinals have not had an interception in the last four weeks. Look for a big day and the Rams to right the ship after struggles the last two weeks.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers @ New York Jets – $6300
One of the players that could see his season cut short is Aaron Rodgers. He may be one of the best to ever play but 2018 was just not his year. Statistically he looked fine but upon closer inspection there just was not the same level of play making we’ve come to expect from Rodgers. He carries a questionable tag into Sunday’s game against the Jets. Keep an eye out if you would plan on playing Rodgers because Green Bay may look to the future and decide to let him rest the remainder of the year.
Value Quarterbacks
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $5700
A big rebound candidate this week after a dud in Week 15 is Dallas’ Dak Prescott. His up and down play continued on the road at Indianapolis a week ago. Now back at home, Prescott faces a win-and-in scenario for his team. It helps that they play the Buccaneers, whose defense ranks fourth in points to quarterbacks on the season, though they’ve been better as of late. Tampa will likely sell out to stop Dallas’ running game, leaving Prescott plenty of opportunity to succeed through the air.
Nick Foles, Philadelphia Eagles @ Houston Texans – $4700
The DraftKings pricing must have been set prior to Sunday night’s game. Nick Foles will be the Eagles’ starter the rest of the season, and showed why he was the Super Bowl MVP a year ago. Foles took the Eagles’ offense to a new height against the Rams in a big upset. This week he will look to continue his ways against a Texans secondary that is the defenses’ weak spot. If Philadelphia can keep Foles clean, there will be open receivers. This price point is to good for a starting quarterback who is in a must-win scenario.
