Is Supernatural new tonight, December 20? With Christmas right around the corner, fans of The CW‘s hit series might be wondering if the holiday will mess up Sam and Dean Winchester’s plans.
If you suspected a schedule change, your instincts are correct. Sam and Dean are preempted this week so that The CW can air The 4th Annual Howie Mandel Stand-Up Extravaganza.
The two-hour comedy special is hosted by Howie Mandel (America’s Got Talent) and features Maz Jobrani (Superior Donuts), Lil Rel Howery (Rel) and Amanda Seales (Insecure).
So while the Winchesters and their friends are completely off the air Thursday, the good news is that they’ll be back next week. The bad news is, the series is going into reruns for a short period.
Last week’s episode “The Spear” was Supernatural‘s midseason finale. New episodes won’t be on tap until Jan. 17; until then, the network has lined up a series of repeats from earlier this season.
Next Thursday is a second airing of action figure-related mayhem in “Mint Condition” (episode 4), followed by the spooky Halloween episode “Nightmare Logic” (episode 5) on Jan. 3.
No word yet on what the repeat will be on Jan. 10, but if you have missed any Supernatural season 14 episodes, this is a good time to catch up. The preemption this week gives fans time to visit any of their favorite streaming sources to find episodes, and then The CW is serving up a few of them before normal service resumes.
It’s not as entertaining as if Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki crashed Howie Mandel’s TV special, but at least you’ll be able to find Supernatural for the next few weeks!
