Fantasy Football: Impactful NFL DFS Injuries: Week 16

With extensive coverage of the National Football League and how it pertains to fantasy sports, information about Fantasy Football Injuries to skill position players is easy to come by.

What’s not so easy to come by is actionable fantasy information regarding injuries to non-skill position players. We’ll be exploring some of the NFL DFS Injuries and how they may help you gain an edge week to week.

K.J. Wright and Jordan Hicks

The most impactful, non-skill position injuries, may actually be players returning from injury. Seattle has a chance to get back linebacker, K.J. Wright, from a knee injury this week. This would be a welcomed addition, as they’ll have the tall task of taking on the leagues best offense, KC. Wright’s status is still up in the air, so you’ll have to monitor this situation closer to kickoff.

Another stud linebacker, Jordan Hicks, may also be able to return to his team this week. Hicks has been sidelined since week 11 with a calf injury, but has resumed practicing this week. With a depleted secondary, Hicks would be a huge addition for the Eagles as they make their playoff push.

Shaq Thompson – LB – Panthers

Shaq Thompson has been dealing with shoulder issues all year, but the Panthers have decided to shut him down, and place him on IR.

Actionable Takeaway: Thompson didn’t have as big of a role when Thomas Davis returned, but this news is more important from the perspective of figuring out how motivated the Panthers will be come Sunday. It seems as if Carolina may roll over in this spot.

Eddie Jackson – DB – Bears

Eddie Jackson suffered a sprained ankle last week, and is unlikely to play on Sunday.

Actionable Takeaway: Jackson currently holds the top coverage grade for any safety in the NFL this season, and his presence will be missed on Sunday. While San Francisco may not be the team best positioned to exploit this loss, they may have sneaky value in what could be a let down spot for Chicago. After locking up the division and partying hard, they’ll have to head west for a road game against the 9’ers.

Kenny Clark – DL – Packers

Kenny Clark was inactive last week, but the Packers have now placed him on IR with an elbow injury.

Actionable Takeaway: Clark was playing well for Green Bay, and his injury is magnified given all of the Packers’ injuries on the defensive line. They’ll be without Mike Daniels as well, and the Jets may be able to take advantage.

Da’shawn Hand – DL – Lions

Da’shawn Hand has been placed on IR with a knee injury.

Actionable Takeaway: The rookie, Hand, was playing well in his first year, earning a PFF grade of 87.5. Coupled with the loss of, Ezekiel Ansah, and the Lions front won’t be nearly as intimidating. Minnesota needs a win in this spot, and the lack of a pass rush should set up well for the Vikings’ offense.
