Buffalo(-1.5) vs. Troy at Mobile, AL(2):

Buffalo 10-3, 7-2 (2nd MAC):

Wins: vs. Delaware State(48-10), at Temple(36-29), vs. Eastern Michigan(35-28), at Rutgers(42-13), at Central Michigan(34-24), vs. Akron(24-6), at Toledo(31-17), vs. Miami(OH)(51-42), vs. Kent State(48-14), at Bowling Green(44-14)

Losses: vs. Army(13-42), at Ohio(17-52), vs. Northern Illinois(29-30)

Record vs. bowl teams: 3-3

QB Tyree Jackson is probably the best player Buffalo has ever had. He reminds me a lot of Daunte Culpepper. Jackson is built like a fullback, but has a big arm, and is faster than Culpepper ever was. His speed looks deceptive. You don’t even really know how fast he is until you grab air.

Anthony Johnson is a tough matchup for most corners. However, this Buffalo team can be had on defense, especially by the run. Ohio and NIU proved that.

Troy 9-3, 7-1 (2nd Sun Belt East)

Wins: vs. Florida A&M(59-7),at Nebraska(24-19), at Louisiana-Monroe(35-27), vs. Coastal Carolina(45-21), vs. Georgia State(37-20), at South Alabama(38-17), vs. Louisiana(26-16), at Georgia Southern(35-21), vs. Texas State(12-7)

Losses: vs. Boise State(20-56), at Liberty(16-22), at Appalachian State(10-21)

Record vs. bowl teams: 3-2

Troy turned a few heads by beating Nebraska in Lincoln. It wasn’t really a fluke. Sawyer Smith overtook Caleb Barker in the middle of the season, and the Troy offense has looked better. However, the strength of this team is still the defense. No other team scored more than 28 on them after they got waxed by Boise in the opener.

Prediction:

Troy had the added advantage of already winning a game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium this year. It also doesn’t hurt that this is practically a road game for Buffalo. The Bulls stumbled down the stretch anyway, and are playing arguably the best defense they have seen this year. Add in the fact that this is practically a home game for Troy, and I think I have to take the Trojans. I expect a really good game though.

Pick: Troy
