DraftKings NBA Early Picks December 23: Ride the Detroit front

We have 11 games on Sunday, but the early slate only has two of the DraftKings NBA games. The evening slate starts a little later. I’m not really sure why this is split, but we just have to go with it. We really have to watch the status of Wall since he was sick last night and this is an earlier 5pm eastern start tonight.

Due to the short slate, I am switching up the format a little. With only two games on the slate, we really don’t need a breakdown of six people per position in most cases. We do have two stars on this slate. Do we have the value to play more than one? Is it even worth our efforts to try? We will explore that along with a few other things for the afternoon slate.

None of the players are priced in five digits, so even if Wall sits, we may not need to use the value picks. Let’s dive into this thing!

DraftKings NBA Guard Picks:

Victor Oladipo torched Brooklyn on Friday, and regardless of the status of John Wall, he appears to be the guard to build around. If Wall it out, Bradley Beal is again a strong play, but temper your expectations against a good Pacers perimeter defense.

There isn’t much in the mid level of guards. Trae Young is always worth a look on short slates because he still has tremendous upside. Reggie Jackson isn’t a tough defender either, but I may go with the other side of this. Jackson hasn’t been anything great, but Young’s defense is the stuff of legends, and not in a good way.

Kent Bazemore is probably the Atlanta guard you want. He has at least 28 DraftKings points in seven straight games, and gets a pretty good matchup today.

Jeremy Lin is worth a look if you need value, but Tomas Satoransky is the way to go if Wall sits out again or is limited.

The man crush on Reggie Bullock is in full effect again with Atlanta in town. He was a bit of a disappointment against Charlotte, but Bullock is a superior low range play today. Kevin Huerter is worth a look as long as he keeps starting as well.

Forwards:

Despite the great matchup for Blake Griffin, he had a pedestrian game against the Hawks the first time around. Meanwhile, Andre Drummond racked up 48.25 DraftKings points in just 32 minutes! Drummond is the way to go here, but I don’t have much of an issue with using both. That said, I would rather use Drummond with Oladipo instead of Griffin.

More from FanSided

If John Collins can’t go, we need to be very away of a potential blowout. Detroit is the much better team. I still trust Drummond, but beyond that, I don’t know if I would use another Detroit player. Dewayne Dedmon and Alex Len are firmly in play here.

Sabonis, Thad Young, and Myles Turner are all in play against a Washington front that essentially has no front. Otto Porter is still out though, so I’m definitely on Trevor Ariza. With the night that Thomas Bryant had last night, he’s going to be very widely owned.

We are going to have to watch for resting Wizards. Beal was an absolute monster last night, and everyone played big minutes. This quick turnaround could open up some big value. Make sure you keep an eye on this situation.
