The Kentucky Wildcats aim to get their season trending in the right direction as they take on another historic program in the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Both the North Carolina Tar Heels and Kentucky Wildcats enter their clash on Saturday afternoon in the United Center with an 8-2 record. Both teams have shown flashes of being the high-quality teams that many expected them to be in the 2018-19 college basketball season, but both have also had their letdowns along the way. Subsequently, this one could be anyone’s guess.
After losing two out of three games to end November, North Carolina has bounced back, most recently in a massive way with a win over Gonzaga. The Tar Heels have seen freshman point guard Coby White emerge as a possible star. And as he’s flanked by veterans like Luke Maye, Cameron Johnson and Kenny Williams along with another star youngster in Nassir Little, this team has firepower everywhere.
Then there’s Kentucky, whose two losses on the year have been highly concerning. They began the year getting run off the court by Duke. Then, last weekend, they were upset by a Seton Hall team that had no business being in the same stratosphere as the Wildcats. Though a combo of Reid Travis, Tyler Herro, P.J. Washington and Keldon Johnson can be dangerous, this group needs to start clicking if they’re going to make a run.
