LeBron James puts full-court press on for Anthony Davis

LeBron James isn’t worried about tampering, and he’s putting the full-court press on recruiting Anthony Davis.
LeBron James hasn’t been shy about his desire to bring another star to the Los Angeles Lakers. He recently said that it “would be amazing” to play with New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis, and then James followed that up by having dinner together after the Lakers beat the Pelicans 112-104 on Friday.
It’s hard to imagine they didn’t discuss the possibility of being teammates in the future.
Davis has been with Klutch Sports since September, and they also happen to represent LeBron. If Davis joined the Lakers, that could be enough to unseat the Golden State Warriors as the team to beat moving forward.
“The Brow” can make more cash contractually by signing an extension with the Pelicans, but he had some interesting comments after dropping 30 points, 20 rebounds and five assists in the loss.
“I’d take legacy over money,” Davis said to Yahoo Sports. “I want to have a legacy. Championships, the things I do in the community, being a good teammate, playing hard. All that stuff matters the most to me.”
The Pelicans are 15-18 this season, and that doesn’t bode well for their chances of keeping Davis who is clearly chasing championships and not dollars.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Friday that a number of general managers were upset over the NBA’s lack of action in disciplining LeBron for tampering.
Magic Johnson also might try to strike while the iron is hot before another team like the Boston Celtics become involved in discussions this summer. Johnson definitely should be careful about tampering in the coming months, because he’s already been disciplined for it in the past. LeBron is clearly not worried about it though, and he might have some help coming in the future in the form of a superstar who happens to have a unibrow.
