NHL DFS Man Advantage Saturday December 22nd
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Saturday night December 22nd! Tonight we have nice size 8 game slate. This slate tonight is, in my opinion, the perfect size. We don’t have too many games to go through but we have enough games to offer a few ways to go about building your rosters with enough variation to differentiate yourself from the field.
NHL DFS Goalies:
Tonight my favorite NHL DFS goalie play is Matt Murray ($7,900) of the Penguins in a road matchup with the Hurricanes. Murray was not having a great season before his most recent stint on IR where he missed 9 games with a lower body injury. Before he was injured Murray lost 5 straight starts, but since returning he has won both of his starts. Murray has allowed just 4 goals in the 2 starts and gets a Hurricane team that has only scored 14 goals in their last 5, they also come into tonight’s game losing 4 of 5.
My second pick in net is Pheonix Copley ($7,600) of the Capitals. Copley and the Caps head to Canada’s capital city to take on the Senators tonight. While he doesn’t start too many games, Copley has been taking advantage when he does start in net. Copley has won 3 straight starts allowing only 8 goals in the process. Ottawa comes in tonight losing 3 of 5 with only 12 goals scored in those 5 games.
A few other viable options tonight are:
Frederik Andersen ($8,300) VS NY Rangers
Connor Hellebuyck ($8,000)/Laurent Brossoit ($7,800) @ Vancouver
NHL DFS Top Players:
High Tier:
Auston Matthews ($8,200) – Matthews has been on an absolute tear since returning from injury. In his last 10 games Matthews has 9 goals and 8 assists and is averaging 6.2 FPPG. Toronto 2 is also one of my top line stack as well tonight with Matthews centering Andreas Johnsson ($4,300) and Kasperi Kapanen ($4,700).
Steven Stamkos ($6,900) – Stamkos comes into tonight’s game in Edmonton with 10 goals in his last 10 games and also 5 assists as well. Stamkos has goals in 3 straight and is against an Oiler team that has lost 3 of 4 and allowed 14 goals in those 4 games.
Jamie Benn ($6,000) – Coming into tonight Benn has 2 goals and 3 assists in the last 4 games for the Stars. Benn also has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games against the Wild.
Mid Tier:
Nicklas Backstrom ($5,900) – Backstrom has scored 4 times and assisted on 11 goals for 15 points in the Caps last 10 and he should find the score sheet again on Saturday. Ottawa comes in giving up 15 goals in their last 5 games and it looks like they will be starting back up goalie Mike McKenna who has given up 9 goals in hist last 3 starts.
Sam Reinhart ($5,200) – Reinhart is extremely underpriced for how well he has been playing in the last couple of weeks. In the Sabres last 10 games Reinhart has 5 goals and 12 assists and averaging 5 FPPG.
Ryan Suter ($4,800) – Suter is definitely on the back side of his career but he can still produce from time to time. In his last 10 games Suter has 1 goal and 6 assists.

Value Tier:
Pontus Aberg ($4,400) – Aberg has been one of the Ducks players all season and has 5 goals and 4 assists over his last 10 games. Aberg skates on the Ducks top line with Ryan Getzlaf ($5,400) and Ondrej Kase ($5,800).
Alex Chiasson ($4,200) – Chiasson had his small 3 game point streak (3 goals 1 assist) snapped last game and looks to start a new streak on Saturday night. Chiasson plays on the Oilers 2nd line with Tobias Rieder and Leon Draisaitl as well as the Oilers top PP unit.
Olli Maata ($3,100) – I went real cheap with my last pick but that doesn’t mean the value isn’t there. Maata has been seeing generally around 20 minutes TOI. Maata does have 5 assists.
NHL DFS Line Stacks
I don’t have much I like with he lines here.
Pittsburgh 1 – This line is on fire right now with the way Bryan Rust has been playing
either one of Toronto 1 or 2
Colorado 1 – ..again, duh! lol
Buffalo 1
Tampa Bay 1 or Edmonton 2
