Christmas hours 2018: Is McDonald’s open?
If you’re hoping for a quarter pounder to get you through Christmas Day until dinnertime, you might be in luck because some McDonald’s are open.
From weary travelers looking for a quick bite to eat on the way to see the in-laws to a pre-meal snack so you can avoid Aunt Doris’s green bean casserole, McDonald’s is the perfect place to stop on Christmas Day. But be advised that not all locations will be open on the holiday, so you’ll need to do some advanced planning.
Since McDonald’s restaurants are owned and operated by franchisees, hours vary by location and that means that not all locations will be open on Christmas Day. If you’re in a high traffic area, you might be in luck.

Make sure you call ahead to McDonald’s before heading out on Christmas Day. Some restaurants will be open on modified schedules, meaning that they could close early so employees can enjoy the holiday. Other locations won’t be open at all. High volume locations will be more likely to be open while others will remain closed.
Restaurants located within shopping malls will be closed per mall hours, but locations inside airports and transit hubs will likely be open to serve food to weary travelers. Locations near busy theme parks will also likely be open. And if there are multiple locations in a given area, it’s likely that they won’t all be open but at least one will be.
McDonald’s is a great place to pick up coffee in the morning on the way to grandma’s house. With so many coffee choices these days, it’s the perfect alternative if you can’t find a Starbucks nearby.
For some families McDonald’s is a fun part of the holiday tradition, so make sure the tradition can continue by checking hours before leaving the house.
