DraftKings CFB picks December 27: Is Taylor worth the price?

We are done with the one Bowl per day business. Now we have at least three Bowl games every day between now and Sunday! That means a DraftKings CFB tournament every day as well!

More from College Football Odds

The tougher defenses carry over to today as well, but there are a couple of elite players on this slate. Are they worth the price to get them? Who can have a big game and save us money?

The scoring for NCAA football is much the same as it is for the NFL with one notable exception: the super flex! That means aside from the flex position which is RB/WR, you can add another player from any position! Want four running backs? Go right ahead! Five wide receivers? Sure! Two quarterbacks? Of course! Just stay under the salary cap! There is also late swap, which is essential for contests with start times spanning several hours.

DraftKings CFB Quarterback Picks December 26

Top Tier:

Both of the elite priced quarterbacks play in the same game tonight. I don’t know that I trust either one for the price. Vanderbilt is one of the best defenses Baylor has faced, and the Bears will also be without Jalen Hurd, arguably their best offensive player. That could work one of two ways. Brewer could throw 50 times, but If no one it catching it, what does he really do for you. I can see Jalen McClendon taking snaps here, and may take a chance on him if he weren’t more than three guys who are actually starting.

Kyle Shurmer is the default top option, and I have no problem paying for him against a subpar Baylor defense. However, I do think that Vandy is going to run the ball a lot in this one, so I have questions as to whether Shurmur will be worth this price.

Middle Tier:

Is Daniel Jones healthy? If so, he may be worth the price. Temple has a solid defense, but if Jones is at his best, which means running as well as throwing, he can keep the defense honest. Still, with an absence of quarterbacks that I really like, this feels like a day to pay up at the skill positions.

Bargain Shoppers:

Apparently, N’Kosi Perry isn’t suspended, which means one of two things: Miami really doesn’t care (and honestly, is he the only one to be an idiot on social media?) or they really want to win. At any rate, Malik Rosier will start, and is the only Miami QB I would consider due to the tentative status of Perry.

DraftKings still has Anthony Russo priced as if he’s out. From all of the reports I’ve seen, he’s playing and starting against Duke. Russo is easily the best value on the slate at any position. Make sure that he is in before kickoff, but he was practicing with the team on Monday.

For those of you thinking about using Jack Coan as a value pick, that probably isn’t a great idea. Miami is one of the best teams in the country as far as pass defense, and Wisconsin doesn’t really have the receivers to get behind the secondary.

DraftKings CFB Running Back Picks December 26

Top Tier:

Jonathan Taylor is $2,000 more than any other back on this slate. Is he worth it? Miami allowed only 127 rushing yards per game this season. This Wisconsin offense is going to be tuck in neutral all afternoon. Maybe Taylor has a good game. Maybe he doesn’t. The only thing I know for sure is that I wont be the one paying five figures to find out.

Middle Tier:

I really like Ryquell Armstead. Duke’s defense actually allowed more rushing yards per game that passing yards. I still see a great game from Russo for his low price tag, but Armstead is a guy you want to carry as well. He could have a big game against Duke.

Ke’Shawn Vaughn was limited against Tennessee, but he should be good to go against Baylor. The matchup alone makes him an elite play. Even Khari Blasingame is worth a look here since he gets a healthy amount of work as Vaughn’s backup.

Deon Jackson had five straight games of double digit DraftKings points to close the season, including in the disaster against Wake. Temple is going to limit his upside, but I could see Jackson hitting double digits again.

Bargain Shoppers:

If I’m using a Miami back, I think I prefer the big play ability of DeeJay Dallas. Travis Homer is going to see a lot more work. This is actually a sneaky good spot for both backs. Ibrahim destroyed the Wisconsin run D in the regular season finale. I expect Miami to run first and foremost to take the pressure off of their quarterbacks, so what looks like a poor matchup on paper could be a really good one. Homer will get first crack, but Dallas has the big play ability.

John Lovett had a strong game in the finale against Texas Tech to put the Bears in a bowl with Jalen Hurd out. That said, you would have to be pretty desperate to use him against this Vanderbilt defense. I would much rather take a chance on DeeJay Dallas or find the extra $600 for Homer.

DraftKings CFB Wide Receiver Picks December 26

Top Tier:

Yesterday was the big day for receivers. Here, Kalija Lipscomb is the highest priced one, and he plays for a team that doesn’t throw a lot. That said, Vandy isn’t just going to run 60 times. If they throw the ball 20 times, at least ten of them are heading towards Lipscomb. The other half will go towards Jared Pinkney, who is also a solid pick for his price.

More from FanSided

Middle Tier:

With Hurd out, Denzel Mims is in line for a big game. Baylor is going to throw the ball a lot. Due to that, I would consider Chris Platt as well. However, Vanderbilt is a good defense. I wouldn’t expect a monster game from either one of them.

Danny Davis is going to see his share of targets. He showed up on the radar with Coan under center, and finished the season with a big game against Minnesota even without Coan in there. I hate the matchup, but the price is right for a number one receiver. I feel the same way about Duke’s T.J. Rahming.

Bargain Shoppers:

Ventell Bryant is the big play guy, but the safe way to go with Temple is Brenden Mack. Both are very reasonably priced here. Though Temple wont throw the ball a lot, Duke’s secondary was torched deep a few times this year. There is a lot of potential here, especially with Bryant.

Who is going to carry the load with Jeff Thomas gone? Lawrence Cager was a minor piece of the offense all season, but Brevin Jordan is the guy I will be targeting if he is in for this game. Jordan practiced on Tuesday, so there is cautious optimism among the Miami staff that he will play. If Jordan is out, Mike Harley is the next in line.

If Aaron Young is healthy for Duke, he could be a nice value pick. Young only played in two games all year due to injury, but he had 139 yards in those two games.
