Dazzling NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Thursday December 27
By John Fazio
A massive 13 game schedule provides a deluge of NHL Fantasy Sleepers to round out the Dec 27 roster, allowing your core studs to shine. Let’s focus on the best lower priced players that should meet and beat salary based expectations:
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Centers:
Joe Pavelski ($5500), San Jose
On a roll, getting shots on goal (SOG) and converting. Anaheim allows the most SOG on the slate creating a floor for Pavelski while elevating his chances for a big game.
Claude Giroux ($5900), Philadelphia
Shoots a lot and aggressive in the offensive zone. Even in games where he’s not involved in the scoring he will get you some points. Has a projected 12 ceiling.
William Karlsson ($5000), Las Vegas
He does have a low floor but usually scores well above his salary based expectation. The Avs can be exploited for SOG so I expect him to deliver here. Worth a look.
Sebastian Aho ($5600), Carolina
A must mention for tournaments. His almost zero floor is offset by huge games. Nowhere near consistent but capable of delivering big time.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Wingers
Tomas Hertl ($5200), San Jose
Another player worth a mention for tournaments. Has a low floor and a high ceiling, but is facing the team allowing the most SOG on the slate. This scenario greatly favors the chances of a big game.
Jake Guentzel ($6400), Pittsburgh:
Solid skater on a roll playing better each game and going up against Detroit, which has allowed the 2nd most SOG on the slate. Should not disappoint.
Jason Zucker ($5600), Minnesota:
He should produce in this spot. His SOG are constantly increasing and is finally converting. Provides somewhat of a floor should he not be part of the scoring.
Tyler Bertuzzi ($3600), Detroit
Makes the most of his limited SOG, and at this price is a good filler if you need the roster room.
Brandon Pirri ($4300), Las Vegas:
A must roster for me at this price. He burst on the scene December 20th and has played in 3 games averaging nearly 6 DK points. Get him now while his price tag is still affordable.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Defenders:
Kris Letang ($6400), Pittsburgh
Solid performer and a consistent producer. Detroit gives up a lot of shots on goal so Letang looks under-valued here. He has a plus 8 rating in 34 games and has been involved in the teams scoring in the last 4/5 games.
Alexander Edler ($5100), Vancouver
The last game against Edmonton he had a goal and an assist. Garners many blocked shots to raise his floor.
Rasmus Ristolainen ($5500), Buffalo
Very stable floor with always a chance of having a big game.
NHL Fantasy Sleepers – Goalies:
Ben Bishop ($7400), Dallas
A great tournament play. When he’s on, he’s one of the best. Sporting a 2.31 GAA which is 5th in the league, he has 26 career shutouts and can earn you the monster points you need. Not for cash games though, as he comes with a very low floor.
John Gibson ($7100), Anaheim
Priced very low because his team is on a 3 game losing streak having scored only 2 goals in that span. However, San Jose is on a 3 game losing streak of their own, all at home. A quality goaltender at a very playable price.
