DraftKings CFB picks December 28: Which QB do you want?

We are done with the one Bowl per day business. Now we have at least three Bowl games every day between now and Sunday! That means a DraftKings CFB tournament every day as well!

More from College Football Odds

There are a few high powered offenses on display here and only a couple of tough defenses. We have more players sitting, more game time calls, and Mike Leach. What more could you want?

The scoring for NCAA football is much the same as it is for the NFL with one notable exception: the super flex! That means aside from the flex position which is RB/WR, you can add another player from any position! Want four running backs? Go right ahead! Five wide receivers? Sure! Two quarterbacks? Of course! Just stay under the salary cap! There is also late swap, which is essential for contests with start times spanning several hours.

CHESTNUT HILL, MA – NOVEMBER 24: Quarterback Eric Dungey #2 of the Syracuse Orange pumps up the fans in the bottom of the fourth quarter of the game against the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium on November 24, 2018 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. (Photo by Omar Rawlings/Getty Images) /

DraftKings CFB Quarterback Picks December 28

Top Tier:

I really thought that the tag on Gardner Minshew would be a lot higher than everyone else. He and newly minted West Virginia starter Jack Allison, who has throw precisely ten passes this season, are just $400 apart! Eric Dungey is sandwiched in between there as well.

Due to the prolific passing attacks out there, the build would seem to be with two of these three. I’m not sure how much I trust Allison. Dungeyr’ s running ability gives him a leg up on Minshew, but even against Iowa State, Minshew could throw for close to 500. Will Dungey get that close? Against West Virginia, it’s certainly possible.

One approach to this is to game stack WVU and Syracuse. The other is to chase lower ownership on Allison and hope for the best.

Middle Tier:

Auburn’s defense is still a solid unit, but they can be had by a balanced attack with a good quarterback. That’s Purdue. David Blough is kind of lying in wait here in the middle tier and could be a sneaky good play.

Iowa State’s offense took off under Brock Prudy, but I’m not going out of my way to throw him against Washington State. Wazzu’s defense is better than advertised, and $7,000 seems like a lot. That money can be better spent elsewhere.

Bargain Shoppers:

For those of you chasing value at QB, this is not the night to do it. Purdue’s defense is terrible, but Stidham has been awful even in good matchups. You can throw a GPP dart with him, but I would rather do it with a little known receiver than a proven subpar play at quarterback.

PULLMAN, WA – NOVEMBER 17: James Williams #32 of the Washington State Cougars attempts to score a touchdown against the Arizona Wildcats in the first half at Martin Stadium on November 17, 2018 in Pullman, Washington. (Photo by William Mancebo/Getty Images) /

DraftKings CFB Running Back Picks December 28

Top Tier:

What makes James Williams particularly enticing is the amount of targets he gets out of the backfield. David Montgomery is the better runner, but Washington State’s run game has been pretty stout all year. I don’t like the matchup for either back, but if I have to choose one, it’s Williams for the upside.

Middle Tier:

The Syracuse defense is much weaker against the pass, but I think that WVU might try to run anyway. However, I’m not sold on the fact that it will be with Kennedy McKoy. Martell Pettaway had within five DraftKings points of McKoy in three of the last four games of the season. Pettaway seems to be the way to go in this backfield since he is $1,700 less.

I understand that Auburn’s defense can be tough, but if playing in this tier, I would go D.J. Knox over Max Borghi, who is still a backup on a pass first team.

Bargain Shoppers:

Moe Neal is way too cheap in this game. Dontae Strickland has only really had one big game. YOu can play both, but I really like Neal and/or Pettaway as the value picks.

I’m a big fan of Markell Jones, but I really doubt that he finds much for running room against Auburn. Purdue will have a solid game offensively, but with Knox and Moore the biggest playmakers, I feel like Jones gets lost in the shuffle.

MORGANTOWN, WV – NOVEMBER 23: David Sills V #13 of the West Virginia Mountaineers catches a 10 yard touchdown pass in the first half against Robert Barnes #20 of the Oklahoma Sooners on November 23, 2018 at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, West Virginia. (Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images) /

DraftKings CFB Wide Receiver Picks December 28

Top Tier:

With Gary Jennings out, I expect a huge game out of David Sills. Huge enough that I would take him over Moore. Rondale Moore proved throughout the year that he can produce against any defense, but with Sills at a lower price, I simply can’t justify paying for Moore against Auburn.

Middle Tier:

With Sean Riley and Jamal Custis similar to the price of Hakeem Butler, that makes this tier interesting. Butler is by far the better receiver, but he is also playing a far better defense.

Many are going to look to Isaac Zico here, but you shouldn’t. I don’t want to mess with Stidham, but Ryan Davis is very reasonably priced against a bad defense. If Auburn gets it going here, Davis is going to be the guy that has a monster game.

Bargain Shoppers:

Wow, the bargain teir at receiver is tough. All of the Washington State wideouts are here, but good luck guessing who has the best game. I also like Marcus Simms with Jennings out.

I could make a case for using just about anyone here, but the way to go about this is to try and figure out those at low ownership who could come up big. The name that really stands out to me is Trevon Wesco. He has come on of late anyway. Now with Jennings out, he could be in line for a breakout game.

I also find myself leaning towards Easop Winston. I think Iowa State is going to key on Patmon, opening things for the rest of the receivers.
