NBA FanDuel: Cash Game Targets – Friday, December 28th
Do you play NBA FanDuel cash games? In this article, my goal will be to give you some targets at each position for tonight’s NBA action. I hope you find this informative, and I also hope I can help build your bankroll by helping you build a winning cash lineup.
For the newbies, NBA FanDuel cash games are simply the games in the Fanduel lobby that are 50/50 or close to that to win. These are basically all of the games other than the tournaments, and guaranteed prize pool tournaments (GPP’s). Head-to-Head’s (H2H), 50/50, and double-ups would best summarize cash games.

Welcome to the Friday edition of NBA FanDuel Cash Game Targets! Happy Friday and I hope I can help you get your weekend off to a good start!
In this almost daily article, I will go over players to target at each position for tonight’s 10-game main slate, starting at 7:00 ET. If you are finding this piece for the first time, here is a quick breakdown of what will happen here.
I will give one target at each of the guard and forward positions, and one center. Following the picks, will be the ever popular “sample lineup” we like to do here at FantasyCPR. All targets in this article will be safe floor, cash games plays.
With NBA DFS, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not just plug-and-play these sample lineups. There is so much info that will drop over the course of the day for NBA, and you never truly know what to expect.
If you want to be a consistent winner for NBA, lock starts at 7PM ET on most week nights. Plan on being ready to tinker those lineups last second, accounting for all of that fabulous NBA news that nobody was expecting five minutes before, or even AFTER lock. It happens all of the time, so if you set your lineup now and forget it, it’s probably not going to work out for you in the long run.
NBA FanDuel: Cash Game Targets: 12/28/18
PG – Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder – $11,500
It may end up a tough call on who to play between Westbrook and AD, but I think I can simplify that for you. Both are fantastic plays regardless of circumstance, and Westbrook always seems a little more risky, but he also comes a bit cheaper. I think tonight we will end up seeing Davis higher owned than Westbrook, that is of course if Paul George plays.
Here is how I am going to play this one. PG-13 is a game-time decision, and if he sits this game out tonight in Phoenix against the Suns, I think you have to lock in Westbrook. My gut is telling me George takes a day off to rest that hip-pointer injury, being the opponent shouldn’t be a problem for this team. However, I have absolutely nothing to back that up, I am just thinking like a coach should.
There is some solid value at this position as well today already, as we have some early news. Fred VanVleet will likely pick up another start as Kyle Lowry will miss tonight’s game, and it looks as though the Timberwolves will continue to start Tyus Jones, and keep Derrick Rose coming off the bench.
***Value Play: Fred VanVleet $5,500 – Tyus Jones $4,500***

SG – Dennis Schroder – Oklahoma City Thunder – $5,600
This would be another play that would be much better in the event Paul George sits this one out, but against the Suns here, I am liking this Thunder squad up and down regardless. Schroder has been leading the second unit for the most part, but he is still locked in for 25-30 minutes a night.
Usually when this team is down a player, it has been Schroder who has jumped in the starting role, and he does contribute. In the two previous meetings with Phoenix, Schroder has averaged 44.5 FDP, so he has been solid in this match-up. This is a position that I see nobody worth paying up for in cash games, so Schroder is likely as expensive as I go. If George does pay however, I may pivot down to both value options.
***Value Plays: Danny Green $4,500 – Alec Burks $4,400***

SF – Kawhi Leonard – Toronto Raptors – $10,300
I do not think he will get much love for cash games today, but he should. Kawhi Leonard has been a beast for the Raptors when Kyle Lowry is out, and that will be the case tonight in Orlando against the Magic. It’s just hard to choose him over Westbrook and Davis, when both can easily fit in your lineup.
While this may be better suited as a GPP play, the fact that Leonard is up over $10K makes things tough. With The King out another game and George’s status up in the air, Kawhi is the top dog at the small forward position tonight. However, there is value here in the $5-6K range, and paying down here just makes more sense.
One player in particular that I have my eyes on is Trevor Ariza in Washington, as Otto Porter remains out, and Ariza is already logging big minutes with his new squad. There is also some Suns value at the position, with Kelly Oubre Jr, starting to log more minutes and Mikal Bridges playing at least 32 minutes in each of the last six games.
***Value Plays: Kelly Oubre Jr. $5,000 – Mikal Bridges – $4,600***
NBA FanDuel: Cash Game Targets: 12/28/18
PF – Anthony Davis – New Orleans Pelicans – $12,600
What can you say about the Brow really that you don’t already know? AD has been his dominant self as of late, and is coming off of a 32 point, 18 rebound game against the Mavericks on Wednesday. Today is the home-and-home series extravaganza apparently, as we have three games that are rematches from just Wednesday. One of those of course is this one in New Orleans, where the Pels will now host the Mavericks.
My only thought on that is that it’s weird that it’s so different today as far as the targets go, but that is the NBA for you. Brooklyn will play Charlotte again, and the Spurs will battle the Nuggets again as well. Young Nets emerging rookie Rodions Kurucs got a hefty salary boost, but he is still in play at $6,300 in my opinion. Kurucs and Davis look like my PF pair at the moment, but things will change over the course of the day as always.
***Value Plays: Jerami Grant $5,700 – Bam Adebayo $4,200 (If Whiteside OUT!)***
NBA FanDuel: Cash Game Targets: 12/28/18
C – Steven Adams – Oklahoma City Thunder – $7,200
While this price is a little low regardless of circumstance and match-up, if Paul George were to miss this game, Adams would become an incredible value. I am preparing to have a lineup ready in case we do get word early enough on PG13, and if he is out, not only is Westbrook a lock, Adams and power forward Jerami Grant are also very close to it.
We touched plenty on the fact that the Thunder will face the Suns, and if Phoenix can somehow stay in this game, we could see a huge game from Adams. In the last two meetings between these teams, Adams is averaging just under 41 FDP. If George is out, Adams should be more active on the glass, and this should be an easy double-double spot. The position is loaded at the top today once again, but with limited solid value elsewhere at this point, today is a spot to spend down on center.
The Lakers will be on a back-to-back, and are expected to be without LeBron James and Rajon Rondo. If Javale McGee misses another game, Ivica Zubac is still in play at $6,500. Keep an eye out for Boban news as well! If he is announced as starting again and we know he will play 20 minutes again, he will likely crush value.
***Value Plays: Ivica Zubac $6,500 – Boban Marjanovich $3,600 (If we actually get word early enough that he is starting again)***
NBA FanDuel: Cash Game Targets: 12/28/18 – Sample Lineup!
The line-up below is meant to be illustrative only to further back-up the logic laid out in previous slides. It is not an optimal line-up. It is in fact, just a “Sample Lineup.”
PG – Fred VanVleet – $5,500
PG – Russell Westbrook – $11,500
SG – Danny Green – $4,500
SG – Alec Burks – $4,400
SF – Trevor Ariza – $6,100
SF – Mikal Bridges – $4,600
PF – Anthony Davis – $12,600
PF – Rodions Kurucs – $6,300
C – Boban Marjanovich – $3,600
***This sample lineup leaves $900 in salary on the table. There will be better options as the day unfolds!***
