NHL DFS Man Advantage Saturday December 29
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Saturday night December 29th! Tonight we are back with a big slate after Friday nights small 3 game slate. With 11 games on the schedule for the main slate there is plenty of top players to pick from.
Looking at the NHL DFS slate the first thing that stood out to me was the fact that 5 of the 6 teams who played on Friday night are playing Saturday (Only Columbus is not playing). One game that should fun to watch (not just for fantasy purposes) is John Tavares and his new team taking on his old team, the New York Islanders.
NHL DFS Goalies:
My top goalie tonight is Braden Holtby ($8,200) on the road against the Senators. I went up and down the goalies tonight and couldn’t find a better goalie in a better situation then Holtby tonight. Holtby comes into tonight’s game with a 7-3 record and a 2.50 GAA and a .919 SV% in his last ten and has won 5 of his last 6 starts.
Andre Vasilevskiy ($8,300) vs Montreal, Frederik Andersen ($8,100) vs NY Islanders, and Matt Murray ($8,000) @ St. Louis are the best high-priced options for me tonight after Holtby. Of the three goalies I mentioned my favorite tonight is Murray with a prime matchup in St. Louis. Murray has won 4 straight starts and has only allowed goals in those 4 wins including a shutout win over Carolina last Saturday.
David Rittich ($7,800) vs Vancouver and Carter Hart ($7,400) @ Florida are my favorite plays under $8K. Both have very winnable games against bad teams, especially Hart against a Panther team on the second night of a back to back
NHL DFS Top Individual Players:
High Tier:
Steven Stamkos ($7,500) – Stop me if you’ve heard this before, Stamkos is on fire. Stamer comes into Saturday nights riding a 5 game goal scoring streak with 7 goals in those 5 games and has matchup with the Canadiens on the second night of a back to back.
Sidney Crosby ($7,300) – Sid the Kid has also been playing extremely well of late, but unlike Stamkos, Crosby isn’t scoring goals, he’s setting the up. Over his last 5 games Sid has 1 goal but 7 assists and gets a matchup against the lowly Blues where he will look to add to those totals. Crosby also loves playing St Louis, in his last 3 games against the Blues he has 5 goals and 2 assists.

Tyler Seguin ($6,700) – After team CEO Jim Lites called Seguin and linemate Jamie Benn “terrible” earlier this week and said they are too complacent. I am banking that these comments will spark them both to get their games going and will want to show that they are as good as their contracts say and will start playing well against Detroit tonight
Mid Tier:
Dylan Larkin ($6,400) – Larkin comes in to tonight’s game as probably the hottest player in the league nobody is talking about riding a 12 game point scoring streak. Over his 12 game streak he has 6 goals and 8 assists . While his team isn’t winning much, Larkin is a bright spot for the Wings
Viktor Arvidsson ($6,000) – Arvidsson made his return from the injured list on Thursday and did not put up much a fantasy output only registering 6 shots for 3 DKFP. Arvidsson put up 8 goals and 5 assists in his first 13 games before injuring his thumb on November 10th
Jonathan Toews ($5,200) – Toews has 3 assists in his last 2 games for the Blackhawks. On Saturday the Hawks take on an Avalanche team that comes in losers of three straight and has given up 10 goals in those 3 games. Toews alongside Brandon Saad ($4,200) and Dominik Kahun ($2,800) could make for a low owned value stack as well.
Value Tier:
Alex Edler ($4,700) – Edler comes into tonight’s game against Calgary with 7 points in his last 10 games and is averaging 3.7 FPPG. Edler plays on the Canucks top D pair and top PP unit and is averaging over 22 minutes per game this season
Alexander Kerfoot ($4,100) – Kerfoot comes with 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 games and is averaging over 4 FPPG during that stretch while playing on the Av’s 2nd line and centering the teams second PP unit
Jack Johnson ($3,300) – Johnson may only have 1 assist in his last 4 games but is averaging just around 3 FPPG in those 4 games. Johnson is a guy who can get you some fantasy points and won’t cost you much that will allow you get some higher priced guys. If you can get an assist out of Johnson tonight he will make the value you need from him.
