Key NFL DFS Sleepers an Absolute Must for Week 17
By John Fazio
It’s the craziest week for NFL DFS Sleepers – week 17. Which starters are resting, what minimum salary guy will break you if not rostered, and what the winning line-up will look like are all surprises in this wacky week. Let’s dive into where the most likely NFL DFS Sleepers will emerge.
Cooper Rush ($4500), QB for Dallas
Prescott will start, but at some point will be pulled in favor of Rush. This NFL DFS Sleepers play is a dart throw, but worth at least a try in multiple roster tournaments. He’s too risky to be heavily owned. If he comes in early he could surprise.
Rod Smith ($5500) and Darius Jackson ($3000), RB’s for Dallas
Same scenario as above. This is a meaningless game for Dallas, and at some point Elliot will sit. My guess is it will happen as soon as any Dallas player is nicked up or by no later than halftime.
Allen Hurns ($3000), WR for Dallas
He should see the field and get some targets from Cooper Rush unless Dallas is crazy enough to risk injuring their starters for the entire game.
Teddy Bridgewater ($5300), QB for New Orleans
The Saints are in a meaningless game themselves and already named him the starter.
Dwayne Washington ($3000), RB for New Orleans
He appears to be the lead back this week at minimum salary. It’s impossible to say for sure how the Saints will juggle their players but all indications are he will get a heavy workload.
Tre’Quan Smith ($3700), WR for New Orleans
He has publicly stated he will take the lions share of the targets this week. He’s not the coach but there’s no reason to doubt him.

Kyle Allen ($4000), QB for Carolina
He’s confirmed as the starter for the Panthers and will be throwing mostly into a 2nd string Saints secondary. Definitely worth consideration.
Cameron Artis-Payne ($3000), RB for Carolina
As of this writing it’s still unclear if and for how long starter McCaffrey will play. In multiple roster tournaments it’s best to roster both (separately). Whoever is playing, he will be running against a mostly second string defense. If it’s McCaffrey ($9100) he could have a HUGE game.
The Chicago Bears will play to win. They move to the 2nd seed and a first round bye in the unlikely scenario they win and the Rams lose as an 11 point favorite to the 49ers, but they will play to win.
Value Monster likes the Bears +6 and the 49ers +11.
Matt Cassel ($4000), QB for Detroit
The Lions have still not decided whether to start or sit Stafford, but Cassel did relieve Stafford last week. We will know close to game time.
Seattle may rest starters during the game. They are the 5th seed and will fall to 6th with a loss and a Vikings win, but that may not be enough motivation for the Seahawks to risk injury. Coach Pete Carroll has stated he is playing to win.
TJ Yeldon ($3500) and David Williams ($3000), RB’s for Jacksonville
With Fournette doubtful, these 2 are projected to split carries and head the running game this week. Yeldon is more tested, having substituted for Fournette this season already, and comes with a 26 ceiling.
Kendrick Bourne ($3800), WR for the 49ers
He’s the top WR now that Goodwin and Pettis have been ruled out. As crazy as it sounds, I like Mullens and Bourne as a stack here. They figure to be behind for most of the game (meaning a lot of passes possible) and their top RB Matt Breida is out. Worth a try.
Jeff Wilson Jr ($4400), RB for the 49ers
Taking the lead RB role with Breida out. Another top NFL DFS Sleepers starter at a very reduced price.
