Everton face Leicester at Goodison Park on Tuesday, Jan. 1. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Premier League kicks off the new year with three games. The first game of 2019 features Everton hosting Leicester at Goodison Park. The two clubs are only separated by one point, as Leicester sits eighth with 28 points, one point more than 10th place Everton.
Everton ended 2018 on a sour note. The Toffees lost 1-0 to Brighton on Saturday. Everton closed the year with losses in three of their last four games. Over their last seven games, Everton have won only one game and picked up five of a possible 21 points. Marco Silva will turn to two his best players to end the losing streak. Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson have both had strong seasons, combining for 17 goals and five assists. However, if Everton are going to win on Tuesday, they need to be better in their own half. Only seven teams have conceded more goals than Everton, who have allowed 30 goals in their first 20 games.
Leicester followed up their shocking win over Manchester City with a disappointing 1-0 loss against Cardiff. The Foxes have only won two of their last five games. The Foxes will look to get their 2019 off to the right start against Everton. Leicester cannot continue to drop points if they are going to catch sixth place Manchester United for a Europa League spot. The Red Devils hold a seven-point lead over Leicester. Claude Puel will rely on Jamie Vardy and James Maddison to create goals on Tuesday. Vardy and Maddison have combined for 11 goals this season and five assists.
