Dallas Mavericks New Year’s resolution — Commit 100% to build around Luka Dončić

The Mavericks have their new superstar once Dirk Nowitzki retires, which means do whatever Luka wants! That means if Luka Dončić is unhappy about DeAndre Jordan intentionally snatching a rebound from him, he might just have to go if that’s what Luka wants. From now on, the Mavericks need to build to Dončić’s strengths and keep him happy or recruitment from teams and players alike (LeBron James) might just weigh in on future free agency. The personal relationship building begins now, not the summer he becomes a free agent.

There’ been rumblings about a Dennis Smith Jr. trade and unless there was some internal turmoil, it might be too early for that… That is unless the Mavericks can bring in a big name star to pair in with Dončić for a playoff run! There’s no time to wait, Dončić is healthy now and delivering on the court, you never know what might happen in the future. The Mavericks want to maintain a winning culture around Dončić, and think about what happens if Dirk eventually retires. Remember it took a whole lot of discussion between Aldridge and Coach Pop after Duncan retired to keep him on the Spurs…
